Mock round FAQ
Mock Round info
1: What is the mock round's timeline?
The timeline for the mock round is as followed:
February 2nd: mock round reserves open at 12 pm EST
February 9th: mock round begins
February 23rd: mock round ends
2: What are the round-specific character requirements for the mock round?
All characters must fit the general requirements listed on the general FAQ, as well as the following:
- They must be age 14 or older, though there is no maximum age.
- They must be about the size of a human. If they could reasonably fit into a human-sized room in a house, and are large enough to use amenities designed for use by a human, then they should be fine.
- They cannot be a witch from the canon "Umineko".
As a note, characters present in round 1 or 2 can be apped into round 3, even if they do not fit the current round requirements. This is limited to the players who played those specific characters in those rounds. For example, the younger Mitsuru from round 1 would be too young to app normally, but if the player from round 1 wanted to play Mitsuru again in round 3 they could. But someone else couldn't come in and play a fresh version of Mitsuru.
As this is a mock round, there will be no applications. We will accept the first 12 reserves and they will be able to jump right in and play on February 9th.
3: Why a mock round?
We are testing to see if having powers 'on' will work for this particular round. Given the nature of the murder trials this time around, we're worried that unexpected powers might complicate the cases too much. So we're doing a 2-week trial to see if having powers available for use during murders and trials is viable or not. Thus, one week will be 'powerless', and the other will be with powers.
Additionally, we are testing how the red and blue truths work in a murdergame. Please see the page on the red/blue truths for more information.
4: How many people will be in the mock round?
There will be 12 participants in the mock round. As a bonus for helping us with the mock round, anyone in the mock round will automatically get a spot in round 3. They can use their mock round character or a different character, but either way they will need to write an app for round 3.
There is a cast cap of two people per canon.
PLEASE ONLY RESERVE IF YOU CAN BE PRESENT FOR THE ENTIRE MOCK ROUND! There are only going to be twelve of you and we really need to test the trials and see if they will work or not. We need all twelve people who volunteer for this to be present, so if you can't make even one of the trials then please skip the mock round. We'll be happy to have you during Round 3 if you can't make it to the mock round!
5: Okay, so what's the Schedule look like? How do I play?
MONDAY-THURSDAY: A weekly mingle log will go up every Monday at noon EST. Weekly missions or explorations may be posted but the post is meant for character interaction and exploring the setting. Any additional missions or explorations will be on the game calendar.
FRIDAY: After Thursday night - Where all characters not involved with the murder will instantly fall into a deep sleep at midnight - an investigation log will be posted to the comm at 6pm EST. A body (or bodies) and clues will be discovered. Please note that any evidence found by the guests will have to be remembered or brought to trial by the characters themselves. Also keep in mind that this is going to be a difficult round. It is based on a canon based on mystery novels, after all.
SATURDAY: A log for the trial will be posted at noon EST, and the trial will come to a close at 6pm EST. The accepted 'Blue Truth' will decide who is to be executed - And they will be summarily executed on the spot after a Truth is accepted. OOCly, You must participate in the trial as part of your AC.
Then, the cycle repeats again.
6: Is there anything I'll need to follow or join in order to keep up with the game?
Yes. Discord is mandatory to have in this game. While we still will keep up with the game's Plurk (
scpmods), Discord is where the mods can be easily contacted the most, and where we will answer any game-related questions during play. You don't have to participate in the game chat if you don't want to, but having a discord contact is mandatory.
7: Are there any warnings about the story we should be made aware of?
Yes. Severe body-horror is always a given in this game, given its basis in SCP. This round will also carry a blanket warning for psychological trauma and mental abuse. If these themes are troubling to you, then we suggest that you do not participate in this round.
8: Will there be an AC for the mock round?
There will be! AC will be 10 comments to the mingle posts and 5 comments at the trial. There will be no bonus AC during the mock round, though.
If you fail AC during the mock round, you will lose your spot for round 3! Please carefully consider if you can be present for the mock round before reserving!
