Custom Access Filters guide!

Hey there! Since "Private Conversations", or 'PCs' will be important to this game, we decided to make a step-by-step guide for setting up access filters and posting with them. There are pictures included for ease of understanding as well.

So let's start on the 'manage access filters' page. The url for that particular page is at the top of this image here (number 1). You can get there by going this route: Organize -> Manage Filters -> then selecting 'manage access filters' on that page. Or you can just go to the access filters page often enough that it pops up on your url bar anytime you type 'manage' like I do.

Number 2 on the page is the list of journals you have granted access to. This is important, because you can't filter a post to someone without granting them access first! (This is why we mass-added everyone at the start of the game.)

Number 3 is the list of people not in a selected filter, and number 4 is the people who are in it. We'll get to those two in a moment.

Click on the 'new' button at the bottom of the first list (number 2), and this window should pop up! You can name the filter whatever you like, but I usually just name it the name of the character I am filtering to. (as you can see from the filters already on Undine's journal there.)

And there it is! The list of filters is automatically set up by the order you make the filters, by the way. But let's go ahead and add someone to this filter.

Click on the name you want to add to the filter. You can shift-click to add multiple people at once, but I prefer to do it one person at a time.

Once you have clicked the journal name you want, click 'add'.

And there you go! The name is removed from the 'not on filter' list and added to the 'on filter' list!

You can make multiple filters in a row if you want, but whenever you are done, CLICK SAVE!!! If you do not, all of your hard work will be gone.

Now let's go make a post!

I'm sure you're all familiar with this page, but we're concerned with the bottom part right now. Go to the drop down menu labeled 'show this entry to:' and change the option from 'everyone' to 'custom filter'.

And there are your filters! As a note, you can select more than one filter for each post. So if you, for example, wanted to include three different characters on a special multi-person post, you could use the filters you have set up for each character instead of making a new one. You would just click the box for each character filter to include them in the post.

And you can check when the post goes up too! You should see a little lock next to the post title, as well as all the filters on the individual post. Only the journal that makes the post can see the filter names too.

And there you have it! That's how you set up filters for private conversations.
