[On the instant of your death, you're suddenly outside of your body - probably staring down at the remains it's become.

Yet, you're not alone. For all of you (except Szayel), a young man appears from behind you, his face set into a firm, yet sad, scowl. His shaggy strawberry blonde hair is pretty eye-catching, along with the black and white Shihakusho he wears and the large sword on his back, even as he gently tries to lead you back into the lobby and away from what was once your body. You can still clearly hear and see the living, if you want to try - but they can't see or hear you.

'Welcome to the world of the dead in this Resort,' he says, quietly. 'Looks like you're stuck here with the rest of us.'

He hands you a tablet, just like the one you had before. "You'll need this if you want to keep talking to them,' he explains, looking sad.

It looks like you've passed on, and yet...You still feel like you have a role to play in all of this.]

[ HEY REAN I HOPE YOU WEREN'T EXPECTING A PUNCH TO THE GUT because that's happening now ] Don't be stupid, you dumbass!

[He's 99.9% focused on The Lady at this point, so the punch to the gut comes like a bolt out of the blue, which leaves him doubled over and breathless. Between gasps:]

I-I'm not. None of them deserve this, and keeping as many people alive as possible -- that's our priority here, right?

And that includes you not dying into oblivion, Rean! Don't you know how many people are going to be upset if you're permanently dead? Don't you know how upset I'm going to be if that happens...!? [ She's in tears and angry and just pulls her arm back, away from his body as her body shakes. ] At least- at least if someone just dies normally, we can find a way to bring them back. Just don't-- don't do this. Please.

[Seeing her tears does give him pause, and the words... well, they remind him a little bit of what Elise had told him, some time ago. So when he straightens up, he looks ashamed and awkward with his averted gaze, before he brings himself to meet Inaba's eyes.]

...S-sorry. You're right, I just wasn't... thinking, I guess.

[dereban]

[ Just wipes her eyes and lets out a rather heavy sigh. ] Good. Don't try it again. I'm not going to see any of you guys die again on my watch.

[He reaches into a pocket, pulling out a handkerchief and holding it out to her.]

And... here. It's probably better if you use this instead.

. . . Geez. You really are too nice, aren't you? [ She does take the handkerchief, however, feeling a little. Nostalgic as she says those words and uses it to wipe the rest of her tears. ] Thanks, Rean.

[...! A bitter smile forms on his face.]

I'd say otherwise, but I don't think there's any convincing you of that, huh. Anyways, it's the least I can do after all... that.

[ Inaba immediately sees that and just sighs. ]

That honestly should be my line, you know? [ This conversation feels way too familiar. ] Since I'm the person who isn't.
