GRAVEYARD
[On the instant of your death, you're suddenly outside of your body - probably staring down at the remains it's become.
Yet, you're not alone. For all of you (except Szayel), a young man appears from behind you, his face set into a firm, yet sad, scowl. His shaggy strawberry blonde hair is pretty eye-catching, along with the black and white Shihakusho he wears and the large sword on his back, even as he gently tries to lead you back into the lobby and away from what was once your body. You can still clearly hear and see the living, if you want to try - but they can't see or hear you.
'Welcome to the world of the dead in this Resort,' he says, quietly. 'Looks like you're stuck here with the rest of us.'
He hands you a tablet, just like the one you had before. "You'll need this if you want to keep talking to them,' he explains, looking sad.
It looks like you've passed on, and yet...You still feel like you have a role to play in all of this.]

Hm.
Minato just kind of...blinks slowly at Akira. He's probably already aware that Makoto's gone, because keeping tabs on her would've been his first mission but--
Well.
Even for him, sometimes you just gotta take a moment to Process.]
no subject
[hops off of the banister]
[crosses the room]
[and, if Minato doesn't stop him (he's given plenty of time to stop him) he's going to slide his arm across Minato's waist, dip him backwards, and kiss him senseless]
no subject
So.
No, nothing is stopping Akira at all, thanks for being gross in the middle of where everyone is already staring, Akira.
(Minato wraps his arms around his neck and kisses him back anyway, because it's easy for him to get swept up in Akira's everything too.)
And then he breaks away enough to arch an eyebrow at Akira.]
... You're really not supposed to be here, you know.
no subject
No. . . I think I am. My strength is needed on this side, while Makoto's is needed on the other.
[he lets Minato go, so he can stand up straight]
If it helps, don't think of me as dead-- technically, I'm not.
no subject
... Yeah? Well... that does help, at least a little.
[... This is all too much to think about, really. He's worn down, but he's not broken yet, and so... he just drags in a slow breath and tugs Akira into a hug.]
It's good to talk to you again.
no subject
It's-- [so good to talk to him again] . . . it's so good to talk to-- to see you-- again too, Minato.
no subject
He's delighted.
So quietly, he just chuckles.]
Hey--I knew you were the Star. Regaining hope. Being inspired.
[Quietly, Minato just rests a hand over Akira's heart.]
Every step of the way, that's exactly what you've done.
no subject
[presses his hand against Minato's over his heart, breathing out deeply as he does so]
Well. . .
I can't let the circumstances completely break me, can I. . .?
no subject
[He pulls back enough to meet Akira's eyes, flashing him a tired but genuine smile.]
Not ever. You're so much stronger than that.
no subject
. . . I try.
[he tries his best to be other people's strength, so long as they'll let him]
Let's see this through to the end, Minato.
no subject
[Firmly, solemnly, as he reaches out to cup the back of Akira's neck and tug him in gently, until their foreheads are touching.]
I'm with you to the end. [No matter what end that might be.]
Let's get everyone out of here.
no subject
[lets out a shuddering breath when their foreheads touch, eyes slipping shut]
Thanks. . . for believing in me. For trusting me.
no subject
[That's something he never wants Akira to doubt.]
And you've never let me down.
no subject
[not even though he broke his promise and came to this side?]
no subject
[Minato leans in, pressing their lips together slowly and gently.]
You walked in here with fire and fierceness and rebellion on your face... I think by now, I should be able to tell when you've got a plan.
So... yes. Even now... I trust you. I never wanted you to be here...but even so, I trust you.
no subject
And I trust you.
. . . always have.
[a sneaky little reference to the things they remember]
no subject
...Yeah. Me too.
It's nice to finally remember all of that, isn't it?
no subject
[it's nice, and not even a little bit surreal like he thought it would be. it's just. . . all of the pieces slotting into place. the path that they traversed to get here being laid out behind him, clear for them both to see]
. . . I guess I really did fall for you a long time ago.
no subject
Yeah? It's definitely not just you.
[They're hopeless.]
I can't believe it took a situation like this for me to figure everything out properly.
no subject
[Akira laughs, the sound breathless and airy]
You are kind of clueless. I remember that.
no subject
We reunite after all of this time and it's so you can tell me that I'm clueless......
no subject
[lifts a hand and tugs at Minato's bangs]
Were.
I guess you're significantly less clueless now.
