GRAVEYARD

[On the instant of your death, you're suddenly outside of your body - probably staring down at the remains it's become.

Yet, you're not alone. For all of you (except Szayel), a young man appears from behind you, his face set into a firm, yet sad, scowl. His shaggy strawberry blonde hair is pretty eye-catching, along with the black and white Shihakusho he wears and the large sword on his back, even as he gently tries to lead you back into the lobby and away from what was once your body. You can still clearly hear and see the living, if you want to try - but they can't see or hear you.

'Welcome to the world of the dead in this Resort,' he says, quietly. 'Looks like you're stuck here with the rest of us.'

He hands you a tablet, just like the one you had before. "You'll need this if you want to keep talking to them,' he explains, looking sad.

It looks like you've passed on, and yet...You still feel like you have a role to play in all of this.]

Well, let's see... in terms of combat capabilities, I've brought up some of it already: I can power up people's magic, I can use a bit of fire magic, and I can use the strength of my bonds with people to recover my star energy in an emergency. It's pretty exhausting to use that last one though. Emotionally, I mean.

Aside from that, the star brand lets me um... Transform... And that'll make me a lot stronger in terms of fighting, at least.

Outside of combat... I don't really know what all to say here.

[He nods. Presumably also because he's also heard some of this before during the planning for ventventures, but there is one thing he never got much detail on, presumably.]

What sort of transformation are we talking about? If you feel comfortable talking about it, I mean.

It's not really a big deal, but to make full use of my Dusk Breakers, I need to transform. Actually, I could probably show you. It's not really a big deal to transform, after all.

[And yes, she is absolutely going to transform... and it comes with a magical girl transformation sequence.]

W-Well, even if you say that, it's something that basically every S-Rank can do, so it's not that big of a deal.

S-rank sounds really high up! It's not something rare?

Well, I mean... There are eight S-Ranks in total right now?

I guess it is true that we're pretty rare, though. I only know one other person my age that's an S-Rank, after all.

See? So it's a big deal!

Well, I mean, my time in Fort City is what I'm most proud of, but it's not like I could have done anything by myself. A lot of it was because there was a lot of support.

..I'm starting to get the feeling there's a lot of things that can only be done with support...

That's how it tends to be, yeah. There's not much that can be done without support of some sort when it comes down to it.

[I'm not quite sure why people are surprised by this, but I should probably clarify.]

Well, this is something that's relatively new in our world. By synchronizing the star brand with our Dusk Breakers and Reflectors, it strengthens the effectiveness of both and makes it possible to harm Dusk Monsters, which are immune to conventional weaponry.

Whoa... [He has absolutely not watched anime so this is pretty new still?!]

Are Dusk Breakers your main weapon, then?

Yeah. For me, my Dusk Breaker is actually this staff here... When I'm not transformed, it doesn't actually do anything, though.

Oh, I also know how to use guns, but I'd... rather not use them if at all possible. I can use ranged attacks just fine with my Dusk Breaker, and it's probably more effective anyways.

[Guns are what I use for murdering people, using a completely different weapon type means I can disassociate easier!]

[Ellie... you need to talk about this shit. Probably with Yoshi or something. Not that he's thinking that but!!]

I think that's fine. It's a lot better for you to fight with something you're more comfortable with, anyways. [Although hm.] Can you shoot projectiles out of your staff or something?

Yeah, projectiles fire out of the top portion of the staff. Ah, the projectiles are all tinged with the fire element, though.

Huh... that's pretty similar to how an orbal staff works, then. Alright, thanks for the rundown.

[Now to consider party organization...]

Akira was actually thinking of bringing Yoshi along to help with analyzing the enemy. You think you'd be up for keeping an eye out for him, or would you be better off moving closer to the front line?

[...There is a pause while she tries to comprehend this situation.

Is Rean... giving her an excuse to hang out with the guy she's dating even we're fighting...? Is this some sort of trap...?]

T-That sounds fine to me! I'll make sure to keep an eye on Yoshi while we're fighting! I'll definitely keep him safe!

[Meh... close enough?! Just don't have too much fun while the rest of them are dying and everything'll be fine.]
