GRAVEYARD
[On the instant of your death, you're suddenly outside of your body - probably staring down at the remains it's become.
Yet, you're not alone. For all of you (except Szayel), a young man appears from behind you, his face set into a firm, yet sad, scowl. His shaggy strawberry blonde hair is pretty eye-catching, along with the black and white Shihakusho he wears and the large sword on his back, even as he gently tries to lead you back into the lobby and away from what was once your body. You can still clearly hear and see the living, if you want to try - but they can't see or hear you.
'Welcome to the world of the dead in this Resort,' he says, quietly. 'Looks like you're stuck here with the rest of us.'
He hands you a tablet, just like the one you had before. "You'll need this if you want to keep talking to them,' he explains, looking sad.
It looks like you've passed on, and yet...You still feel like you have a role to play in all of this.]

stares at Medic]
....No, you really are talking to them. I can feel all of those souls you have in your body.
[Oh my god, this is his life. His life with a weird zombie doctor who is also an abomination of souls.
He groans, and places a hand on his face.]
I can't believe you made yourself into some kind of - psuedo hollow while you were still alive.

But the version of Misha without a soul would not remember me conversing with his soul.
I think.
Now I'm confusing myself.

[Still, it's not really something he wants to think about.]
Did they ask you to do that? Put their souls and yours together, I mean.
75% of this is canon and the rest is me filling in the gaps
[Medic looks aside, nervous. After a moment, he sighs.]
Well, we're both dead, so i don't see a lot of use in hiding it.
I sold my soul years ago. Yes, yes, I know. I don't need the riot act read to me over that again. Now, after I did that, I started experimenting in learning more about the human soul- partially for my own eternal afterlife's sake, and partially for the sake of scientific curiousity.
Eventually, I hit upon a way to remove a soul from a human body, but still keep them- well- themselves. The process doesn't hurt them, and none of them are even aware it occurred.
It's made them incredibly resistant to dying, even when respawn technology is unavailable. Better yet, it seems like it didn't negatively impact them in death, either. Of course, that's if Sniper is to be believed...
Ah, anyway. No, I didn't ask, but in all fairness, part of our contracts as mercenaries allows me to experiment to my hearts content so long as I'm not intentionally causing detriment to my own teammates' fighting abilities.
Plus, believe me, they're all very used to my experiments.

There's so much he could say in response to this. Part of him just wants to break out his zanpakuto and cleanse all these spirits, because??? holy fuck???? what the fuck is this, he's not even a full shinigami but everything in his body is screaming at him to make this stop.
Yet....he also knows worlds are different, and he can't impose his own on them. And besides - would it even really kill Medic, or just send him back home?
Medic might find it a little hard to breathe occasionally, what with Ichigo's reiatsu fluctuating a little - but eventually, it evens out, and he only has one thing to say.]
...I'm going to be blunt.
I'm going to forget you ever explained this to me, for my own sanity and your safety. Deal?

[Medic scritches the feathers of one of the gray pigeons, humming to himself.]
You go on pretending I am a perfectly normal man who occasionally has extra heads, I go on pretending that you don't think I am horrifying.
[He doesn't sound mad or anything, don't worry. He actually sounds pretty chipper about it.]

[He clears his throat, a little awkwardly.]
Anyway, that's all I had to say. I'll, uh...leave you to your birds now.

You don't have to justify yourself to me, my friend. I don't mind.
[The pigeon on Ichigo's shoulder stops preening him and hops off, returning to Medic's own shoulder.]
... And- thank you again for the message. I do appreciate it.
[... He still sounds chipper, but now it's getting a little much. It's hard to tell if he genuinely doesn't mind Ichigo's reaction, or if he's trying very hard to appear as though he doesn't mind; and honestly, either is possible.]
