ROUND 2 FAQ
OOC INFO
What is Round 2's timeline?
The timeline for round 2 is as followed:
November 1st: the test drive meme goes up
November 9th: reserves open
November 17th: reserves close, applications open
November 22nd: applications close
November 23rd: round 2 begins
January 4th: tentative endgame for round 2
What are the round-specific character requirements for apps?
All characters must fit the general requirements listed on the general FAQ, as well as the following:
- They must be age 14 or older, though there is no maximum age.
- They must be about the size of a human. If they could reasonably fit into a human-sized room in a house, and are large enough to use amenities designed for use by a human, then they should be fine.
-They must be biologically based. No robots this round, sadly - this is due to plot reasons.
As a note, characters present in round 1 can be apped into round 2, even if they do not fit the current round requirements. This is limited to the players who played those specific characters in round 1. For example, the younger Mitsuru from round 1 would be too young to app normally, but if the player from round 1 wanted to play Mitsuru again in round 2 they could. But someone else couldn't come in and play a fresh version of Mitsuru.
What are the round-specific game mechanics?
This round is a mafia-style round! In mafia-style rounds, several characters are chosen at the start of the game to be in the 'mafia', while everyone else is in the 'town'. The mafia wins if they outnumber the town members, and the town wins if they kill all mafia members. There are other endings possible besides 'town win' and 'mafia win' - and the goal for the factions in this game may be different than in the normal mafia game - but those will have to be discovered over the course of the game.
Each mafia member will have a special ability, and several town characters will have roles and special abilities as well.
Anyone can kill during the Night phase (which is thursday night icly), but there will always be at least one mafia kill each week. There can be up to three deaths total each week, depending on who decides to kill during the Night.
In addition, round 2 will be what is known as 'rotating mafia'. Each mafia role can only be killed in one specific way, and if the town kills the mafia member in the wrong way then that mafia role is passed on to a current member of the town. That town member will then be a part of the mafia and cannot win under the 'town win' conditions.
Round 1 revealed that everyone's canons exist in this world. Will my character be 4th walled?
For round 2, The NPCs will know about your character's canons. Other PCs will not know, unless they are a canonmate (and even then they will only know what they know in canon). So the NPCs may end up 4th walling your characters. Keep this in mind while you decide if you want to app or not.
If this is mafia, what are the roles?
In total, there are 6 town roles and 3 Mafia roles. Not every player will get a role, but all roles may rotate under specific, secret conditions. Remember that icly, your character will not know this information!
The roles at a glance are:
The Ruler: Town-aligned. Akin to the Judge role in Epic Mafia.
The Magistrate: Town-Aligned. Akin to the Governor role in Epic Mafia.
The Inquisitor: Town-Aligned. Akin to the Spy role in Epic Mafia.
The Knight: Town-Aligned. Akin to the Bodyguard role in Epic Mafia.
The Bonded: Town-Aligned. Akin to the Lover role in Epic Mafia.
The Seeker: Town-Aligned. Akin to the Detective role in Epic Mafia.
The Doppleganger: Mafia-Aligned. Akin to the Disguiser role in Epic Mafia.
The Barghest: Mafia-Aligned. Akin to the Granny role in Epic Mafia.
The Jorogumo: Mafia-Aligned. Akin to the Hooker role in Epic Mafia.
The Peasant: Town-Aligned. Has no special abilities.
Along with these roles, there are Secret Roles that may or may not be given at the start or during the course of the game.
Okay, so what's the Schedule look like? How do I play?
MONDAY-THURSDAY: A weekly mingle log will go up every Monday at noon EST. Weekly missions or explorations may be posted (and we'll let you know beforehand if there are any scheduled for that week) but the post is meant for character interaction and exploring the setting. OOCly, Any murder proposals or volunteer posts are due on Tuesday, 8pm.
FRIDAY: After Thursday night - Where all characters not involved with the murder will instantly fall into a deep sleep at midnight - an investigation log will be posted to the comm at 6pm EST. A body (or bodies) and clues will be discovered. Please note that any evidence found by the guests will have to be remembered or brought to trial by the characters themselves. Also keep in mind that This is not a murder mystery game. There may not be enough evidence to accurately point to someone using just the evidence provided.
SATURDAY: A log for the trial will be posted at noon EST, and voting will come to a close at 6pm EST. Majority vote will decide who is to be executed - and the person chosen will be shut away in a room by the Staff for the night, to have their final meal and sleep. OOCly, You must vote as part of your AC.
SUNDAY: The chosen will be executed in a post that will go up at Noon EST. The executioner is chosen by the Staff Icly, though OOCly players will vote for the executioner after the vote on Saturday. The Executioner will be able to pick from a variety of execution methods, and a refusal to execute will merely result in their punishment. Execution times may vary depending on player schedules - for example, if the executed is at work or something comes up that they can't make the noon date, then we will let the playerbase know and push it back to a later time.
Then, the cycle repeats again. There are Role-specific schedules, but those will be given to the players of those roles when they get them.
Is there anything I'll need to follow or join in order to keep up with the game?
Yes. Discord is mandatory to have in this game. While we still will keep up with the game's Plurk (
scpmods), Discord is where the mods can be easily contacted the most, and where we will answer any game-related questions, as well as pass on any private System Messages needed for the game (such as potential role use against a character on Night, etc). You don't have to participate in the game chat if you don't want to, but having a discord contact is mandatory.
Are there any warnings about the story we should be made aware of?
Yes. Severe body-horror is a focus point of Round 2, as it is based on The Thing. If you are not okay with something hijacking your character and pretending to be them, then we would strongly suggest you not app into this game. If specific triggering content comes up in a given week, we will warn for them - But be prepared for almost anything.
IC INFO
Where am I?
You were outside in a blizzard in the forest, but now you're safe and sound at The Resort. The Resort - and the helpful Staff working inside of it - will make sure that your every need is attended to so long as you are a Guest.
Why am I here?
To wait out the storm, of course! That is to say, the blizzard. However, since we are a ski Resort, the roads leading out might be - mmm, well...impassable for anyone. Not to worry, though! We are certain that given enough time, the roads will clear enough. As you are Guests, we wouldn't dream of charging you in your time of need.
Who are you?
We are the Staff, of course - of the Resort. It's our job to make sure that you and yours are well taken care of, with every need attended to. Crisp bedspreads, fresh towels, mints on pillows...You name it, we'll do it. We have a world-class Chef who is ready and willing to make any meal you wish, whenever you wish. The Resort is also home to many fine activities, and any of the Staff will happily do anything you want. Though, as you may be staying with us a while, we will have some games prepared to keep you entertained.
Can I go home?
You may check out any time you like. You can never leave.
If there are any questions, comments, or concerns, please drop us a line down below!
