[While Makoto went to get Shirou, Iwai was tasked with guarding Akira and Minato. He wasn't going to let anyone try to kill them!
And then Makoto bangs on the door. Iwai stands up immediately, grabbing the short laser sword he's been keeping around, for the sake of defending himself. He's not as experienced with that as he's with guns, but it's better than going empty-handed.
Iwai kicks open the door, running outside and seeing the monster puppy run for the stairs]
Stop!
[Pretty doubtful the puppy is what scared Makoto, unless something's very wrong here, but he follows the dog nonetheless]
[it wouldn't make sense, would it? After all, the puppy is just a sweet, innocent puppy. It would never be scary!
Still, it's following something, especially when it becomes obvious that Makoto is not immediately visible at the top of the stairs, either. It's like she booked it.
The puppy pauses and goes 'awoooo' before walking to the right, looking for a specific place. It only pauses occasionally, because it's a puppy and it gets distracted.]
[The puppy was with Makoto, wasn't he? For a moment Iwai follows the puppy, up to the newest floor.
No sign of Makoto...]
Shit, where did she go...?
[This is ridiculous. Making sure not to yell to avoid alerting any enemies he's around, Iwai advances slowly, looking inside the rooms. Hey, puppy, any ideas where Makoto is?]
[Dogs are generally reliable when it's about finding people, even if it's a puppy that's the offspring of an evil entity and also Szayel. Iwai doesn't hesitate to get over there. Maybe it's overconfidence from the YOLO fortune cookie, maybe it's because he wants to keep Makoto safe and is willing to take risks for that.
He approaches the antigravity room. His sword isn't activated -- he wouldn't want to accidentally harm Makoto if she rushes out or anything -- and examines the inside of the room]
Shit, where did she go...?
[Rubbing his eyes a bit tiredly because of the late hour, Iwai steps inside slowly, as if he's expecting to see Makoto huddled somewhere in here]
[when he steps inside, unless he's prepared for it, he can feel the gravity give way, and his body begins to float upwards. In fact, the puppy is firmly on the ground, its tail wagging. But looks a little different than it did before. Its yellow eyes focus on Iwai with an unnatural glint, and those soft puppy teeth seem almost... sharp?
It's hard to place.
But it's about to leap after him, a low, childish growl in its throat. But before it does that, Makoto's voice calls out,]
Moro, stay.
[and the puppy promptly stops.]
Sit.
[and the puppy sits. Makoto, for her part, doesn't look at Iwai, only at the puppy. On her hands are two large, oversized gloves. And she's grabbed a knife from somewhere, most likely the kitchen.]
[He definitely didn't expect the gravity to be turned off. He had no reason to think such thing would happen, and even if he did, how would he counter it?
The moment his feet stopped touching the floor he knew he had done a mistake. Gritting his teeth, he spun around, floating towards the center of the room. There's Makoto standing at the entrance...and something's wrong. Very wrong]
Stop messin' around, Niijima.
[He doesn't like the look of this at all, but he won't gain anything by panicking. Maybe if he stays calm and tries to get her to snap out of it things will go well. The laser sword hilt escapes from his hand, other items do the same, except one: a small bottle of booze Iwai clutches in one hand.
If there's a chance the distraction power will be useful it is now. The problem is that without gravity, it sure isn't going to work that well, he figures]

Now isn't the time for playtime.
[the smile on her face is... off. somehow.]
