The tiger pounces, and while its pounce does not hit either of the two boys, it lands dangerously close. Close enough to knock Gerome off balance, if he doesn't brace himself. And probably make him drop Vanitas.
He's been avoiding letting people find out he can still do this ability, but... Desperate times, desperate measures, etc.
Vanitas stares at the tiger as he calls on the darkness. He's not even hesitating as he scrambles to his feet... and then starts to bodily drag Gerome through the darkness corridor. But corridors take a bit to close.
Even if he is closing it as he tries dragging Gerome through it, his hand on the guy's back as he pushes. ]

No, what are you—!? [ He is sluggish about moving but if he has to choose between a big dark portal and a rampaging tiger? He's going to choose the dark portal. It's... possibly, probably, safe enough if someone is trying to pull him through it. ]
As the portal closes, the tiger will get one last, powerful swipe of its paw at Vanitas and Gerome. Vanitas will take the brunt of the attack, but Gerome will be hit by it too. The razor-sharp claws cut through everything- cloth, metal, fibers, you name it- and leave nasty gashes in their wake.
Congrats on surviving, but you may need medical attention to stay alive.]
[ Vanitas has one hell of a pain tolerance, but even he's letting out a cry as those claws slice through him.
His thoughts are screaming that they should get somewhere that isn't here - somewhere there's a healer, somewhere they'd be safe...
... The safest place he knows is Roxas' room.
Unfortunately, he's not doing so hot and the corridor doesn't function quite the same way in this resort? Yeah, let's go with that. Either way, they wind up just outside of Roxas' room. He's going to be collapsing onto the floor as soon as they get there. ]

He considers it a personal failing that he didn't anticipate this—not that he has long to regret it. After all, it's hard to concentrate on much of anything when you're crying out in pain.
Too disoriented to support himself (and, frankly, in too much pain), he topples to the ground with Vanitas once they exit the corridor. Blearily, he can make out that they're still in the resort. More than that he doesn't even try to discern, instead he tries to put a hand onto Vanitas' shoulder to shake him. It probably doesn't work, he probably passes out from the pain right after but, hey.
