[Minato had hinted that something unpleasant would happen if he died, and while it was clear that something had to do with a role, knowing all of this is useless to him as it is. Because short of telling him exactly what was to come, there's no possible way he would have predicted that there would be a bomb planted inside Minato's body.
And at point blank? He doesn't stand a damn chance when the thing goes off.
