Round 6 FAQ

1: What is Round 6's timeline?

July 25th: info posts go up
July 26th: IC pre-round lead in post goes up
August 1st: reserves/apps open
August 5th: reserves/apps close
August 8th: Round 6 begins
September 19th: tentative end to Round 6

Due to the nature of this round, there will not be a Test Drive Meme prior to reserves opening up.

2: What are the round-specific character requirements for apps?

Only players who have played in a previous round are eligible to play in this round. This round is meant primarily for returning characters. Any character who has been in a previous round is an acceptable choice.

If you only played in one round, or if all of your characters are unavailable for IC reasons (they died and went home, they're preoccupied with other tasks ICly), then a fresh character can be apped as long as they follow these guidelines:

All characters must fit the general requirements listed on the general FAQ, as well as the following:

- They must be age 14 or older, though there is no maximum age.
- They must be no bigger than 7 feet tall/about the size of a human. Smaller is fine, but not bigger.
- They must be able to survive on their own without medical intervention from the Foundation (beyond healing recent wounds).

New characters will have to do a full app, while returning characters will link their previous app and fill out a shortened 'where are they now?' section to go with it.

3: What are the round-specific game mechanics?

This round will play out like a standard murdergame. Someone will be killed each week, and the remaining characters will be tasked with finding the culprit. Whoever is voted out at the end of the trial will be executed.

The culprits this round will not remember that they committed a murder. The cases are going to be constructed by the mods and the victim(s) of each week. They will only regain their memories of the murder once the trial is over, regardless of if they are voted as culprit or not.

There will also be a revival mechanic, allowing dead characters to return to life mid-round once certain conditions are fulfilled ICly after trial. More information on this will be given out as the round progresses.

4: Round 1 revealed that everyone's canons exist in this world. Will my character be 4th walled?

Our standard disclaimer is this: We will ask if 4th walling is alright on your application, and include that information on the taken page. Yes, given the premise of 'everyone's worlds are media in this world', it is possible for any character to have viewed any canon. However, if someone does not want to be 4th walled, we will respect that. We will include a spreadsheet of this in the character info pages.

4-B: In relation to that last point, is my character an agent?

All characters in this round are either agents or former-agents working under the direction of the O-5s to complete an important mission. All characters will have been previously trained by the Foundation and know how to work with Foundation agents, regardless of their agent status.

4-C: What will training consist of?

The Foundation will train agents for at least a week (longer if necessary) in firearms use, basic first-aid, and basic technology (computers, smartphones, walkie-talkies/radio, internet/wifi, and recording equipment). It'll just be basic training and it's up to your character if they retain such knowledge or if they keep their skills up.

4-D: What about agent uniforms and inventory?

Every character, agent or not, will be given two uniforms, one handgun (15 bullets), a smartphone, and an Identification Card. All characters will also be provided with a mask to conceal their identity within the Underground.

Character masks can come in various designs of your choosing. The only rule is that the mask must completely cover the face, excluding eye holes. When worn, this mask gives the illusion of your character being a monster in the Underground. Mask and monster designs are constant throughout the game, and this mask will essentially be your character's 'identity' within the Underground. They must be worn visibly at all times while out in public, though characters do not need to wear them on their faces necessarily. As long as they are visible and attached to the character somewhere, that is enough. These masks do not literally transform the characters, though. To other PCs, they will look like their normal selves wearing a mask. The masks are magic and make them appear to be monsters to the monsters of the Underground.

Besides all of this, each character is allowed five 'inventory slots'. One single outfit will take up one inventory slot. A box of extra ammunition (100 bullets) takes up one slot. An alternate weapon (sword, mace, ranged weapon + 15 of it's ammunition, etc.) takes up one slot. An alternate mask (allowing for two 'identities' within the Underground) takes up one slot.

5: Okay, so what's the Schedule look like? How do I play?

MONDAY-THURSDAY: A weekly mingle log will go up every Monday at noon EST. Weekly missions or explorations will be posted and run on Monday, with Tuesday being a possible overflow day if a mission or exploration runs long. Wednesday and Thursday (along with Tuesday, if it is not used for mission/exploration overflow) will be dedicated to CR and character interactions. Character-driven incidents that require mod interaction might occur on those days, but those will be started by the players and are not planned by the mods.

FRIDAY: An investigation log will be posted to the comm at noon EST. A body (or bodies) and clues will be discovered. Please note that any evidence found by the agents will have to be remembered or brought to trial by the characters themselves. Also keep in mind that there may not be enough evidence to accurately point to someone using just the evidence provided. This round may require you to 'go with your gut,' as the killer will not remember their murder.

SATURDAY: A log for the trial will be posted at noon EST, and the trial will come to a close at 6pm EST. A majority vote will decide who is executed for the murder. voting out the wrong culprit will not end the game, but it WILL affect what ending you get! OOCly, You must participate in the trial as part of your AC. After the trial, the Host will execute the person who was voted out.

SUNDAY: This will be a 'rest' day to finish up threads before the next week begins, and AC for the past week will be posted.

Then, the cycle repeats again.

6: Will there be PCs this round, as there have been in past rounds?

No. PCs will not be a thing this round. All content should go on the main comm. The only exception is NSFW content, which should be in your private journals (as it is not allowed on the main comm).

7: Is there anything I'll need to follow or join in order to keep up with the game?

Yes. Discord is mandatory to have in this game. While we still will keep up with the game's Plurk ([plurk.com profile] scpmods), Discord is where the mods can be easily contacted the most, and where we will answer any game-related questions, as well as pass on any private System Messages needed for the game (such as culprits putting evidence in people's rooms, etc). You don't have to participate in the game chat if you don't want to, but having a discord contact is mandatory.

Secondly, we are keeping quiet on a few key game mechanics for the sake of storytelling. Please understand that the nature of the game will likely change as the round goes on. As more information becomes available, more paths to success will open up.

8: In the past, there have been 'watchposts' for previously played characters who have not been in those rounds. Will that be happening again?

Yes, but with a few changes. Firstly, the watchpost will be on a one-week delay. So characters in the watchpost will see the 'week 1' content during week 2. Secondly, the watchpost will gradually lose the ability to see what is going on in the Underground. At first it will be patchy bits of static, and then entire days will be missed, and by the end they won't be able to see anything at all.

9: Are there any warnings about the story we should be made aware of?

Yes. Severe body-horror is always a given in this game, given its basis in SCP. This round also contains warnings for body transformation related horror and psychological horror.

10: What do the characters know so far?

We have a 'what you know so far' page set up. It will be updated regularly as you gain new information.

11: Do we have powers this round?

While your characters will still have their powers, there will be a temporary loss of powers at the start of the round.
