THE JOROGUMO

Rean goes to sleep on Sunday night, not suspecting anything. Yet, in the night, a creature finds it's way to his bed, crawling on top of the blankets, giving Rean a numbing bite before diving deeply into his mouth, going ever deeper. And then...
...The Resort has a special role for you and your fellow Monsters. In the course of its proposed game, it's made clear to you that there is an Outsider in an area the Resort cannot physically reach, and it's causing them pain. As the Jorogumo, you see the Resort as your web - your home and your hunting ground. And a good hunting ground is properly maintained - but you're also curious that somehow, a single prey got so far in and made their own home in your web...
OOC GAMEPLAY
- The Goal of the Jorogumo is to eventually kill or take The Outsider as their Host.
- As the Mafia in the IC game, the Resort expects the Jorogumo or one of the other Mafia to do at least one murder a week, beyond the break week we'll schedule around the holidays.
- Once per Killing Night, The Jorogumo may pick one player and block them from any actions that night. The Jorogumo cannot target the player it blocks, and blocking a player will prevent them from being murdered that night from any source. The Jorogumo may kill after using it's role.
- Any murder the Jorogumo does must be done in a 'spider-like' fashion. What this means is that there must be some trace that they did the murder - the body strung up in webs, poisoned via a bite, etc, that is distinctly 'spider-like.'
- The method of execution that can kill the Jorogumo is Drowning.
- At the beginning, only the Monsters will know The Outsider exists, and that the Resort wants them gone.
- The Jorogumo wins if they kill or take the Outsider as a Host, and survive the ic mafia game.
IC GAMEPLAY
The Jorogumo is around the size of a G. pulchripes tarantula, and chooses a host via entering through their mouth when asleep and setting up camp inside the lungs. through the use of specialized webs, the jorogumo syncs up with their chosen host, feeding off of their fluids and manipulating their brains. The Jorogumo host is essentially mind controlled by the spider, and believes they are the Jorogumo itself instead of just the meat robot the spider pilots around. However, due to being controlled by an otherworldly spider, they have access to webbing and are able to physically manipulate their bodies into horrible, awful forms.
What this means from an IC perspective is that a character that has become the Jorogumo will be more predatory than normal, but also potentially more skittish. The thing a Jorogumo player should keep in mind is 'So what if my character thought like a spider?'
Also keep in mind that a Jorogumo character will shy away from anything that could injure the lungs, as that is where the actual Jorogumo is, which includes smoke or other inhalants, even if they were a known smoker in canon.
Other behavior you can include (but isn't mandatory!) includes:
-Tracking flies and insects more carefully
-staring at people as if you're attempting to determine if they're food or other predators
-rubbing at the eyes/temples (due to feeling like they can't see properly with only two)
-preferring dark, hidden spaces
These are examples, and aren't strictly necessary! There's no hard and fast rule with the Jorogumo, beyond being more predatory and staying away from anything that could injure the lungs. Just keep in mind that the longer your character is the Jorogumo, the more spider-like behavior they'll exhibit.
Also, the longer your character remains the Jorogumo, the more webbing will collect in their lungs, leading to coughing and wheezing. If you're the Jorogumo for a LONG time (4 weeks or more), your character may even begin to cough up webbing.
The Jorogumo is interested in The Outsider simply because they're prey that managed to allude the Resort itself. If the Jorogumo survives to find The Outsider, they have the option to either kill the Outsider or take them over, though they may have to fight their fellow Monsters for him - if they all survive...
