GRAVEYARD

[On the instant of your death, you're suddenly outside of your body - probably staring down at the remains it's become.

Yet, you're not alone. For all of you (except Szayel), a young man appears from behind you, his face set into a firm, yet sad, scowl. His shaggy strawberry blonde hair is pretty eye-catching, along with the black and white Shihakusho he wears and the large sword on his back, even as he gently tries to lead you back into the lobby and away from what was once your body. You can still clearly hear and see the living, if you want to try - but they can't see or hear you.

'Welcome to the world of the dead in this Resort,' he says, quietly. 'Looks like you're stuck here with the rest of us.'

He hands you a tablet, just like the one you had before. "You'll need this if you want to keep talking to them,' he explains, looking sad.

It looks like you've passed on, and yet...You still feel like you have a role to play in all of this.]

I WAS POSSESSED BY A WOLF GHOST AMA

[personal profile] escardos 2018-12-09 06:25 pm (UTC)(link)
[ holy shit.

it's not a phrase that flat uses very often, hearing it instead from the likes of his professor's foul mouth. but after what seemed like five minutes of torture after two weeks of hell, he thinks that's the only thing that he can describe the current situation.

he hears cinque crying, but he can't really process it. it's like he's watching a movie that he's no longer a part of. with a tilt of his head, he looks at her and his own body, which bobs lifelessly in the tub. ]

Aw...that's a shame.

[ he doesn't seem to have much of a reaction, other than that. he'll just continue to stare at the scene, just like one of his movies. ]

[personal profile] blutsauger 2018-12-09 07:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Welcome to the "afterlife", my friend!

[Medic seems completely unphased by the execution, of course. He's chilling over by Phil and Snake, and waves at Flat when he appears. He gives Phil's shoulder a final squeeze before walking up to meet Flat.]

Unfortunate that she chose such an extended method of execution, ja? At least they've narrowed down methods for the future.
escardos: (deux.)

[personal profile] escardos 2018-12-09 08:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Medic!

[ flat's neutral expression is immediately replaced with a smile when he sees the familiar face. by now, cinque has already gone off with roxas but that's fine...perhaps. ]

Well, I didn't think it would hurt so much. Having my lungs fill with water was definitely not pleasant! But next time they should try electrocuting it-- that would've been better.
blutsauger: (I will no doubt sleep perfectly sound)

[personal profile] blutsauger 2018-12-09 08:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Drowning is something I've only experienced a few times, certainly not recommended. Too slow, too agonizing, and probably traumatizing for the killer if they're not completely committed. Poor girl. Electrocution hurt like hell, but at least I died within seconds, before my body even began to burn!

I doubt that any normal methods, like hanging or stabbing, will do much to destroy that wolf; you're right that electrocution is a viable option- or perhaps the Iron Maiden...

Ah, well. Hopefully they catch the monster again as quickly as with you. Of course, that all depends on when it chooses to strike again.
escardos: (quinze.)

[personal profile] escardos 2018-12-10 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
Oh no, it's not a supposition, I really mean it! The Barghest and I had a kinda-sorta two way connection, so I know his weaknesses. He can't go inside the water and he dies from electrocution!

[ if only he could have told anyone else that... but there's something else that catches flat's attention ]

So you've died before being electrocuted? That must've been awful!
blutsauger: (I’m not afraid to get my hands dirty)

[personal profile] blutsauger 2018-12-10 12:20 am (UTC)(link)
Oh! ... I worry, now, that people might avoid electrocution for a while, since my own execution utilized it. I hope I didn't mess things up in the long run.

Ja, of course! [Medic has explained this so many times over the last few weeks, but at least he's figured out how to explain it pretty simply, now.] I've worked as a mercenary for many years. We had technology that allowed us to come back to life after death- therefore, we all died millions upon millions of times over the years. Death means very little to me, now.
escardos: (quinze.)

[personal profile] escardos 2018-12-10 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
Well, perhaps another one of the Mafia will do it? If I was the Barghest I'd probably wanna lay low for a while--[ wait is that too soon? he raises his hands, trying to show that he doesn't want to be a danger ] --not that I'm still the Barghest! I'm Flat Escardos, really! It's just-- you know, after all it said.

[ he shrugs. either way, the medic says something that's really cool, and flat's eyes widen in amazement. ] Wow. What a great invention! Although it takes away the singularity of a life, it makes it much easier for humans to achieve their true purpose. That's incredibly efficient!
blutsauger: (From the recent deceased)

[personal profile] blutsauger 2018-12-10 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, please- don't worry about that. It's clear that whatever hold on you that the Barghest had is gone now. It really is quite the tricky parasite!

[Medic looks smug.] Thank you. While the device wasn't entirely my design, I put quite a lot of work into it's upkeep, and on improving it over the years. Eventually figured out how to enhance it to respawn people in battle, as well.

Of course, there's no way to permanently stop true death. But you can fight like hell to procrastinate on dying for real!

[Yoshi's sitting in the same spot from last week, not that anyone can tell. When Flat's ghost appears, he just raises his hand in a silent, if somewhat uncertain wave. There's no BitPhone "rabbit" ears anymore; just a kid.]
escardos: (onze.)

[personal profile] escardos 2018-12-09 09:41 pm (UTC)(link)
[ oh,

flat turns to see yoshi and he pales a little in horror. while he was never in control of his body, he was 'aware' enough to know what the barghest had done to yoshi with his body. ]

I- I'm really sorry!

[ he bows deeply in an apology (because that's what they do in the animes he's seen!) not once, but many times, in quick succession. he's really sorry, okay? ]

I didn't think I'd get possessed by a bloodthirsty crazy wolf spirit thing!!
justonezero: (care about me)

[personal profile] justonezero 2018-12-09 09:46 pm (UTC)(link)
[Yeeeeeeah, that happened.]

It's fine! It wasn't really you, anyway.

[Besides, the wolf even said Flat didn't want to kill him. ALL WATER UNDER THE BRIDGE.]
escardos: (deux.)

[personal profile] escardos 2018-12-10 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
Is it really okay...?

[ after all, those two weeks had been like a personal hell. not the fact that he wasn't in control of his body, but the fact that yoshi might have considered their whole friendship a sham-- that he was a monster--

he'll keep that away for now. instead-- ]

Well, if you think it's okay, then it's okay! Although...maybe I should reintroduce myself. I'm Flat Escardos-- the real one!
justonezero: (So I shouldn't be afraid)

[personal profile] justonezero 2018-12-10 05:56 am (UTC)(link)
I mean, I don't like being dead, but... I'm not going to blame you for it!

[It just wouldn't be right!

And then, the spiel:
]

I'm Yoshi Nanase! Everybody calls me Trash, Pest, Maggot, Spineless, Dust, Plankton, Moron and all sorts of other things, so call me whatever name you like!

[personal profile] perfeccion 2018-12-09 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Mr. Escardos, welcome. Unfortunate that we weren't able to eliminate that beast, but I'm sure you're feeling much better, being back in control.

[he possessed people a lot back home. They generally do Not Appreciate it]

When you are feeling up to it, I would like to interview you about... well, whatever you may have learned while sharing your bodily real-estate with the Bargest.
escardos: (onze.)

[personal profile] escardos 2018-12-10 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
Oh--! Uhm, sure, yeah! I don't mind!

[ he's a little put off by the suddenness of.......szayel but! he'll pay no mind to that! ]

Well, like I told the Medic, it's kind of a two-way street? Except the Barghest was much more powerful and could pretty much shut me up whenever it wanted. Ah, but it doesn't like the water! It can't go in the water and also--!! It dies through electrocution. It's really weird, but I guess that since spirits are energy, no other thing would be able to really touch it.
perfeccion: (012 talent and imagination)

[personal profile] perfeccion 2018-12-10 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
Hm! I suppose that does make sense. So the drowning was... [he sighs] -- a very poor choice all around. [he shakes his head, taking a seat in an empty pew. He takes out his notebook and his purple pen and starts scribbling] Myself and Miss Ellie did try and do some tests on samples from the larval barghest, but in vitro certainly doesn't hold a candle to in vivo. [but, he was unwilling to sacrifice the pup for that] Now that we know for certain, I'm sure there's no way we can deliver that information to the living. [his grip tightens on the pen] ... frustrating.

So... the reason it was able to mimic you so effectively is... because it had access to your memories and thoughts? And you were more or less a prisoner in your own body?
escardos: (neuf.)

[personal profile] escardos 2018-12-10 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
Are you kidding me?! [ SZAYEL THAT'S THE MOST HORRIBLE THING YOU COULD SAY. flat looks absolutely distraught for maybe two seconds. to think that this would all be for naught--!! ]

Mm, yeah, it had access to all my memories and...sort of vice versa? Like a little bit. Like I think I know that Appy was this redhead? And that the Barghest tried to... you know.

[ he's not saying it nope no way no how ]
perfeccion: (009 we're making weird science)

[personal profile] perfeccion 2018-12-10 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
I'm afraid so. It seems some force is keeping us from providing information -- or direct aid -- to the living. Many times I have tried to tell them the identity of the Jorogumo... and even during the trial, I attempted to shield Akira from the Barghest's attack. [he sighs, put out] You are more than welcome to try to tell someone still living, though.

Ah. Yes. Before it took a host, when it attempted to... ahem... use Kurosaki as an incubator. [he chuckles and flips his hair] I don't think it expected his spiritual power to be so immense.
escardos: (quatre.)

[personal profile] escardos 2018-12-10 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, you know who it is? He's the only one I've had a hard time figuring out. The other one...the Doppelganger, I think I have an idea but I don't know if it's very good.

[ S I G H ]

Oh, but what about suggestions! Like "keep an eye on x person" or something? Maybe we can say that?
perfeccion: (005 plastic tubes)

[personal profile] perfeccion 2018-12-10 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
Of course! He didn't hide himself very well, that night. The Jorogumo is possessing Rean Schwarzer. Ah, but... it didn't seem like the Barghest... it seemed like.. he was more himself? Mmm, I suppose the whore spider might have a similar modus operandi as the Barghest, in regards to memory-sharing... But, wait -- are you saying you haven't actually... met? the other monsters?

[he is still so confused about how the rules of this game work. HE DIDN'T THINK IT WOULD BE SO COMPLICATED]

[another long-suffering sigh, and he shrugs] All you can do is try, dear Mr. Escardos.

[personal profile] bladeisme 2018-12-10 03:41 am (UTC)(link)
[Ichigo just....hands him a tablet, looking somewhat sad, while trying to tug him away from...all of that, and man is his hair long.]

Hi, Flat.

[Or well -]

Nice to finally meet you after all this time.

And...I'm sorry that happened to you.
escardos: (deux.)

[personal profile] escardos 2018-12-10 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, you're the one that the wolf... did that to.

[ HE'LL JUST TAKE THE TABLET AND TRY NOT TO THINK ABOUT THE FORBIDDEN KNOWLEDGE. unlike ichigo, he doesn't look sad-- definitely not happy either, but he looks very neutral for someone that just drowned. ]

It's alright, though. I mean, I'm just glad to have control of my body again, even if I am pretty dead. [ he'll just....point to the tub that is being taken away. it's no big deal ]
bladeisme: (Even so darling; as lovely as you are)

[personal profile] bladeisme 2018-12-10 04:00 am (UTC)(link)
Did - Oh. Yeah.

[HE....DOESN'T REALLY SEEM BOTHERED, ngl. At least, not by that. it would not be the first time something tried to genetically engineer him.]

....Are you sure? That's - drowning doesn't look like it's pleasant.
escardos: (treize.)

[personal profile] escardos 2018-12-10 04:15 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, it wasn't! All the water got in my lungs and I definitely wanted to fight back but I realized there was nothing I could do.

[ he shrugs ]

Ah, but I can still contact people here, right? Through the tablet! So it's not so bad, even if--

[ oh. hm. ]

--well, that's just how things are. As long as I can still help the living, then that's fine.
bladeisme: (☾ 78.)

[personal profile] bladeisme 2018-12-11 06:14 am (UTC)(link)
You can, but -

[He seems like he wants to say something else, but falls silent.]

...Anyway, yeah. Keep talking to them, Escardos. I'm sure they'll need it.
