??? (Round 3)
[Once the trial begins, all of the dead will feel themselves being lifted out of their bodies. For a short while, they are able to watch the proceedings, including their own bodies as they continue to move and act on their own. But eventually the area starts to grow dim, fading into an inky black nothingness.
Then glowing sakura petals will start to trail by. A path in the darkness, perhaps?
If the dead follow the petals to their source, they will eventually find an enormous sakura tree, it's large branches hanging over the area and providing shelter from the darkness outside. Here, under the sakura tree's branches, the dead will feel 'whole' again. It is as if this is where they need to be to be themselves, with no influences from the witch outside. And indeed, the very air feels heavy with magic, a single point of calm in the storm of the void.
And there, at the base of the tree, sits someone familiar.]

Here's another clue. The so-called "witch" announced, in red, "Erika was conscious from the moment she went into the bathroom to when she died. She also was not placed physically by any outside force, killer or otherwise."
...How? I'll add that the killer was definitely inside the bathroom. And we definitely did interact.

Listen. If the twenty-two of us working together couldn't figure it out, I'm not going to suddenly get it now.

[sighs]
Oh well. I'll savor the triumph of having crafted a worthwhile mystery. --Though the victory is bittersweet at hearing it was wasted on such a large group of ignorant marmosets.
no subject
[She can actually think of a couple of possible answers to that question, she just hates all of them and would prefer to give Erika what little benefit of the doubt she still has.]
no subject
You still don't get it?! Fine! I guess I have no choice but to spell it out for you...
I cooperated with my killer! I even told her how to keep the blood from getting on her clothes, and where to stab me so I would die the quickest! She used a knife because I asked her to! --Being stabbed with a stake was personally distasteful, after all.
1/2
Yep. It was the stupidest possible option.]
You... y...
2/2
YOU IDIOT!
no subject
Heh. What's the matter Kareeeeen-saaaan? Bitter grapes that you were singled out as the suspect?!
Really, I wish I could say I intended for that... a nice little bit of revenge as I exited the game early. But, that was just collateral damage.
Still, I bet you suffered a lot more than me. That's a victory any way you slice it... or puncture it.

[There's no sign of defensiveness, or anything. Karen is well and truly pissed off.]
Do you have any idea what I went through--what we went through? Do you even care? Have you ever given anyone else a single thought?
1/2
[she giggles a little more, not resisting at all as Karen pins her or does anything else.]
Yes, of course I cared. [said sweetly, demurely]

The thought of the look on everyone's faces as they realized they couldn't solve the mystery of "who killed Great Detective Furudo Erika"...
...that was pretty good.
no subject
What most people were concerned about was the innocent girl about to be executed, actually. Even if it came down to just accusing someone who looked suspicious in the end, we all would have been fine with it if we'd picked the correct culprit that way.
no subject
A stupid conclusion for a stupid group of idiots. "Just take the obvious choice"... but then, isn't it your own fault for making me an enemy? I don't recall antagonizing you. --Directly, at least.
no subject
Though I suppose that means it really is my fault, because I should have realized then that you live in your own absurd little world. One where it's more important to have a death dramatic enough for your tastes than for anyone to be able to tell who killed you. One where anyone cares in the slightest about "failing to solve the mystery" in the abstract when they have an innocent scapegoat and an acquitted culprit to worry about.
That was my mistake. Thinking that, on some level, you lived in reality with the rest of us.
no subject
[she scoffs again]
"Not living in reality?" Here's a news flash for you: I'm the only one of all the pieces out there who understood what the witch was, and what the game was. And therefore my own role within it. You understand, right? It doesn't matter if I die, or live. My Master, also a witch, will revive me and put me wherever she likes.
That poor killer. Choosing to murder the one person who knew exactly what was going on... for the record, I did try to warn you all. I offered all the inside information buried in my little grey cells, to no avail.
Really, whatever happens out there will be just desserts... not that I ever cared about justice.
no subject
So what you're telling me...
[She gets to her feet, standing over Erika for the moment.]
...is that you really have no redeeming value as a person whatsoever, and in fact, you were probably meant to be that way.
no subject
Though I suppose I do have one redeeming trait. --Can you guess what it is?
no subject
[There! She'll turn her weakness into an advantage.]
no subject
Seriously?
no subject
[...she's... not entirely sure where she's going with this now?]
no subject
no subject
No, she doesn't see any of them as competition. It's...
[Icon.]
It's actually a pride thing. She wants to be able to say none of the servants have to deal with things like that.
no subject
Whatever. I'd complain that it's not even a unique design... but then, I remembered, this dress in itself is supposed to be someone else's. [sighs]

I'm pretty sure I've seen what Vinea wears in an anime.
