Dreamland (round 3)

[A strange house of some sort sits in the pitch black nothingness that exists around it. For those just now wandering in, they will be drawn to the building, finding it lit up in a way that it should not be. It's as if the whole area- house, yard, fence, and giant sakura tree- all give off their own light, and the newly-arrived are drawn to it like a moth to the flame.

Inside the boundary of the yard, the familiar faces of those who have passed on already will greet them. Depending on who is asked, they might give an accurate explanation. But even if they don't, one thing is clear: you don't want to leave this place. The area outside feels Dangerous, and it is probably best to stay put.

Fortunately, the house is built in an old style, and there are many rooms to explore. One room on the second floor seems locked, but the rest are open to explore as desired. The standard rooms are easy to find: kitchen, a W.C. and a bathroom, a sitting room of some sort, and a couple bedrooms (with plenty of futons for the dead to use). There are also several tatami mat rooms with nothing in them currently, but it seems like there might be some use for those rooms.

Around the house, perches for birds can be found. No birds are on them currently, though.

Sometimes Watanuki can be found in the house, but most of the time the dead will be left to their own devices. The question is, what will they do here?

[ Tsubasa nods in understanding, completely interested in the entirety of this explanation. But at the same time, there seems to be a pitiful look in his eyes, sighing a little bit. ]

I see... I think that's kind of sad, really. That they thought that way because of their twisted love for humanity. Maybe in some ways, those demon pillars... are similar to the Witch. Afraid of death and moving forward.

They were - I was not there for the battle, for I was not in a state to fight, but they seem to fear death more than the humans they pitied. It's said that humanity is destined to prevail over the Beasts of Calamity.

[He sounds, unsure about it - his voice faltering for a moment]

Even so, they are more than capable of eliminating humans if no one opposes them.

[ he nods ]

"Fear of death is worse than death itself". . . is a line I read from a manga recently. But I don't think dying is something to be afraid of entirely. It's just the natural state of things.

It is, we however strive as a species avoid it as long as we can. Avoiding death, can easily become the fear of it.

Exactly.

I think that the Witch. . . became like that because she was truly afraid of permanent death. Of being forgotten. She believed that she had done nothing wrong in her eyes, after all. But people make mistakes. We're not perfect - we're only human. But she 'discarded' that humanity to become a witch so that she could pretend those imperfections didn't exist.

The Beasts are probably similar in the way that they didn't want to see the fact that humans aren't exactly perfect. That's why we have to die... but that's also why we strive to live for as much as we can, to spend days forming memories with those who are truly important to us.

[Quietly, he nods along - musing over his thoughts]

That would fit for Goetia, Tiamat was a scorned mother... but striving to live ones days the best they can, it's a way only humans can really understand innately - others have to learn it.

[And he does miss those days as a mortal. They were actually pretty nice]

Yeah.

You're right about that, at least.
