Round 4 FAQ

1: What is Round 4's timeline?

June 7th: TDM for round 4
June 14th: reserves/applications open
June 19th: reserves/applications close at 11:59 pm
June 22nd: round 4 begins

2: What are the round-specific character requirements for apps?

All characters must fit the general requirements listed on the general FAQ, as well as the following:

- They must be age 14 or older, though there is no maximum age.
- They must be about the size of a human. If they could reasonably fit into a human-sized room in a house, and are large enough to use amenities designed for use by a human, then they should be fine.
- They must have some level of moral ambiguity to them. We're giving a lot of leeway here for "pretty much a good person" being acceptable. We're just looking to avoid anyone who is '100% pure, cannot do anything wrong ever'.

As a note, characters present in rounds 1-3 can be apped into round 4, even if they do not fit the current round requirements. This is limited to the players who played those specific characters in those rounds. For example, the younger Mitsuru from round 1 would be too young to app normally, but if the player from round 1 wanted to play Mitsuru again in round 4 they could. But someone else couldn't come in and play a fresh version of Mitsuru.

3: What are the round-specific game mechanics?

This round is a standard murdergame round! On Sunday, we will roll for our murderer and victim. Thursday night the victim will die. On Friday, an investigation will happen, and on Saturday a trial to determine the culprit will be held. Whoever is voted as the culprit will be executed after the trial on Saturday.

In addition, characters will be groups into six teams of four players each. These teams will be used for some of the events, and teams will be rooming with each other. Teams will not be used for deciding murders or trials, though. Think of it more like "family feud" teams. Characters will also be provided with team-themed t-shirts and jean shorts throughout the game. If they want to wear something else, they'll have to get it from the item machine with bonus AC rewards.

In this round, it is possible to prevent murders from happening in the first place. Please see the death flag mechanic page for more details. If a murder is prevented, there will be an event on Saturday instead.

Additionally, deaths caused by murders and executions at trials, as well as deaths that happen after an "are you sure?" warning, will have an effect on the ending you get this time around! However, deaths caused by 'random events' (deaths in minigames, deaths due to idles/drops, deaths due to characters volunteering for death) will not be counted against the players for the ending everyone gets.

4: Round 1 revealed that everyone's canons exist in this world. Will my character be 4th walled?

We will ask if 4th walling is alright on your application, and include that information on the taken page. Yes, given the premise of 'everyone's worlds are media in this world', it is possible for any character to have viewed any canon. However, if someone does not want to be 4th walled, we will respect that.

4-B: In relation to that last point, is my character an agent?

For this round, all characters will be agents. Your character can have been an agent for anywhere from 6 months to 2 years. The only exception to this are characters from previous rounds who have not been at the Foundation for a minimum of 6 months yet. You will need to expand on this in your app, so be sure to keep that in mind!

If you need help writing an agent history for your character, don't fret! The mods and several players know SCP and are willing to help out. We will also be posting an 'agent workshop' page after reserves are up, for those who need assistance.

5: Okay, so what's the Schedule look like? How do I play?

MONDAY-THURSDAY: A weekly mingle log will go up every Monday at noon EST. Weekly missions or explorations may be posted but the post is meant for character interaction and exploring the setting. Any additional mod-run missions or explorations will be on the game calendar.

FRIDAY: IF A MURDER IS NOT PREVENTED: After Thursday night an investigation log will be posted to the comm at noon EST. A body (or bodies) and clues will be discovered. Please note that any evidence found by the guests will have to be remembered or brought to trial by the characters themselves. Also keep in mind that there may not be enough evidence to accurately point to someone using just the evidence provided. Pushing/questioning suspects is key!

IF A MURDER IS PREVENTED: On Friday at noon EST an announcement will go up that a murder was successfully prevented. The characters will get the day to rest and relax.

SATURDAY: IF A MURDER IS NOT PREVENTED: A log for the trial will be posted at noon EST, and the trial will come to a close at 6pm EST. A majority vote will decide who is executed for the murder. voting out the wrong culprit will not end the game, but it WILL affect what ending you get! OOCly, You must participate in the trial as part of your AC. After the trial, the Host will execute the person who was voted out.

IF A MURDER IS PREVENTED: On Saturday at noon EST an event log will go up. These events will be based off of game shows. Death is possible during this event log, but any deaths will not count against the players for the ending they get. Participating in this event is mandatory for your 'trial AC'!

SUNDAY: This will be a 'rest' day to finish up threads before the next week begins, and AC for the past week will be posted.

Then, the cycle repeats again.

6: Is there anything I'll need to follow or join in order to keep up with the game?

Yes. Discord is mandatory to have in this game. While we still will keep up with the game's Plurk ([plurk.com profile] scpmods), Discord is where the mods can be easily contacted the most, and where we will answer any game-related questions, as well as pass on any private System Messages needed for the game (such as culprits putting evidence in people's rooms, etc). You don't have to participate in the game chat if you don't want to, but having a discord contact is mandatory.

7: Are there any warnings about the story we should be made aware of?

Yes. Severe body-horror is always a given in this game, given its basis in SCP. This round will also carry a blanket warning for physical abuse, mental abuse, and emotional abuse. These abuses can possibly happen to your character at the hands of the NPC running the game. In addition, given the identity of the NPC running this game, there will also be a blanket warning for suicide idealization, and that particular trigger will also be labeled every time it comes up.

If these themes are troubling to you, then we suggest that you do not participate in this round.
