Round 5 FAQ

1: What is Round 5's timeline?

March 1st: a special pre-round post goes up for current characters in the game.
April 1st: TDM goes up
April 5th: Reserves and applications go up
April 9th: Reserves and applications close
April 10th: OOC intro goes up
April 11th: IC intro goes up, game begins
May 30th: tentative endgame date

2: What are the round-specific character requirements for apps?

All characters must fit the general requirements listed on the general FAQ, as well as the following:

- They must be age 14 or older, though there is no maximum age.
- They must be no bigger than 7 feet tall/about the size of a human. Smaller is fine, but not bigger.
- They must have only one soul within their body.
- They must be able to survive on their own without medical intervention from the Foundation (beyond healing recent wounds).

Characters from previous rounds cannot be apped into this round! For example, any of the previous versions of Akira/Ren would not be able to be in this round, but a fresh version of him would be welcome.

3: What are the round-specific game mechanics?

This round is a standard murdergame round. On Sunday, we will roll for our murderer and victim. Thursday night the victim will die. On Friday, an investigation will happen, and on Saturday a trial to determine the culprit will be held. Whoever is voted as the culprit will be executed after the trial on Saturday.

There will be no 'deadland' this round. The dead will continue to exist in the game as incorporeal ghosts who can interact with the living. The dead will not be present for investigations or trials, but can be present at all other times.

4: Round 1 revealed that everyone's canons exist in this world. Will my character be 4th walled?

Our standard disclaimer is this: We will ask if 4th walling is alright on your application, and include that information on the taken page. Yes, given the premise of 'everyone's worlds are media in this world', it is possible for any character to have viewed any canon. However, if someone does not want to be 4th walled, we will respect that.

However, since this is a past round and the mechanics of how characters are brought to the world isn't fully understood in-universe, 4th walling will not be present as a game mechanic as it has in the past (such has how the NPCs have known far too much about the PCs, for example). Especially if your character's canon was created after the year 2000, it won't even exist in-world yet for anyone to see.

4-B: In relation to that last point, is my character an agent?

For this round, all characters brought in are brand-new agents within the Foundation. They can have been in this world for anywhere from 1-3 months. All characters will be freshly-accepted and done with their training, but will not have gone on any missions yet.

In your app, you will need to expand on their brief time in the Foundation and how the change has affected them.

4-C: What will training consist of?

The Foundation will train agents for at least a week (longer if necessary) in firearms use, basic first-aid, and basically technology (computers, nokia phones, walkie-talkies/radio, pagers, and recording equipment). It'll just be basic training and it's up to your character if they retain such knowledge or if they keep their skills up.

4-D: What about agent uniforms and inventory?

Every Agent will be given two uniforms, one handgun (15 bullets), a radio, a nokia phone, and an Identification Card. If they wish for flash grenades, then they will have to make a request for it.

If you wish to bring anything else, it'll have to count as your inventory slot from the app! *We are giving everyone a sixth slot to include their canon outfit if they wish to bring it.

5: Okay, so what's the Schedule look like? How do I play?

MONDAY-THURSDAY: A weekly mingle log will go up every Monday at noon EST. Weekly missions or explorations may be posted but the post is meant for character interaction and exploring the setting. Any additional mod-run missions or explorations will be on the game calendar.

FRIDAY: After Thursday night an investigation log will be posted to the comm at noon EST. A body (or bodies) and clues will be discovered. Please note that any evidence found by the guests will have to be remembered or brought to trial by the characters themselves. Also keep in mind that there may not be enough evidence to accurately point to someone using just the evidence provided. Pushing/questioning suspects is key!

SATURDAY: A log for the trial will be posted at noon EST, and the trial will come to a close at 6pm EST. A majority vote will decide who is executed for the murder. voting out the wrong culprit will not end the game, but it WILL affect what ending you get! OOCly, You must participate in the trial as part of your AC. After the trial, the Host will execute the person who was voted out.

SUNDAY: This will be a 'rest' day to finish up threads before the next week begins, and AC for the past week will be posted.

Then, the cycle repeats again.

6: Will there be PCs this round, as there have been in past rounds?

No. PCs will not be a thing this round. All content should go on the main comm. The only exception is NSFW content, which should be in your private journals (as it is not allowed on the main comm).

7: Is there anything I'll need to follow or join in order to keep up with the game?

Yes. Discord is mandatory to have in this game. While we still will keep up with the game's Plurk ([plurk.com profile] scpmods), Discord is where the mods can be easily contacted the most, and where we will answer any game-related questions, as well as pass on any private System Messages needed for the game (such as culprits putting evidence in people's rooms, etc). You don't have to participate in the game chat if you don't want to, but having a discord contact is mandatory.

8: Are there any warnings about the story we should be made aware of?

Yes. Severe body-horror is always a given in this game, given its basis in SCP. This round will also carry a blanket warning for psychological trauma, death, ghosts/hauntings, and feelings of despair/helplessness. This is a Doomed Round, and everyone in it is expected to die.

Additionally, this round deals with sensitive topics like cancer, end-of-life, terminal illnesses, and things of that nature. EDIT: As of March 23rd, this warning is being removed. Due to the state of the world at this time, we felt continuing the round as planned would be in bad taste. We have re-written the Round 5 plot to remove these elements entirely.

If these themes are troubling to you, then we suggest that you do not participate in this round.

9: What do the characters of Round Five know about the mission?

They only know what was shared on the test drive meme. All information can be found here, but it will be up to players to keep it updated.

Hi, I hope it's okay to ask questions on this post! How does the age rule intersect with characters who look young but are, say, really 700 years old?
