ROUND 2 TDM

TEST DRIVE MEME

This is the test drive meme for The Resort. Feel free to use this to voicetest, gather samples for your potential app, or just have fun in the setting! Reserves open on November 9th. Hit up our Round FAQ with any other questions.

Feel free to come up with your own scenarios as well! This is just a sampling of scenarios that may come up during gameplay.

1. MORNING WAKEUP CALL

You wake up with a start in a hotel room - one with a single bed and it's own bathroom - due to the buzzing of an alarm on a Tablet by the bedside. You're in the clothes you last remember being in, but you sure as hell don't remember checking into a hotel or resort for the night...

There's a message from 'Resort Staff' after you manage to turn off the horrible noise, letting you know there's breakfast for all of the guests down at the Restaurant.

It's 7am, but if you don't ignore it and go back to sleep, there's a continental breakfast buffet spread out at the Restaurant, just like they said there would be. It's all free of charge, too...which is good, because you certainly didn't pay to come here. Maybe getting some breakfast first before demanding to see the management is a good idea - and you can also find out who else got brought here against their will, too.

2. RESORT EXPLORING

So, after your meal (or just more sleep), you're bright eyed, bushy tailed, ready to take on the day and find out what the hell is going on. However, the Staff is all cheerful but evasive, saying that you signed in last night, and even helpfully showing you your signature in their guestbook. And while you know that's a crock of bullshit, they're very insistent that you're here for a week stay...

If you decide to check the Resort out, you'll quickly find that the upper floors are currently undergoing maintenance. But, there's a Ski shop nearby - which isn't surprising, considering that the outdoor courtyard is snowed in. There's also an indoor pool and an outdoor Jacuzzi in case you want to soak in style! And there's a bathing suit in your room, along with a change of clothing...

There's also plenty of empty or unused rooms, oddly enough. Though the strangest thing about this entire hotel is all of the rats. They're all clean, tame, and friendly - but it's downright odd to see a bunch of multi-colored rats skittering about either in special sectioned off areas for them, or up in tubes on the walls, much like a really elaborate hamster run. If you decide to go near them in a sectioned off area, they'll happily just hang out with you doing rat things. Huh. And as long as you're friendly with them, nothing seems to happen. But if you're unfriendly...?

Well. Maybe some things are better left untried.

3. SKI TIME

So you've explored the hotel and seen all the sights you could. Now you're ready to brave the slopes with whatever equipment you took from the Ski shop (all free of charge, again), and have some FUN! Or just see what the outside is like in this weird place you found yourself in, either or. It's cold, but not too cold - and the snow outside is perfect for skiing and sledding. There are three slopes, all ranging from bunny to advanced, and there's even a Ski lift for you to get up there on! If you don't want to go on the slopes, there are some smaller hills to sled down on.

3-A. SKI.....TIME...?

It happens before you can even realize it. You're having a grand old time down on one of the slopes, going at a high speed, wind in your hair and the snowy landscape whizzing by you. It's perfect, except -

- hang on -

What the fuck is that?!

You manage to dodge it in time, but it simply follows after you at a high rate of speed, scraggly arms and legs flailing as it skitters across the snow. Out of the corner of your eye, you see an unlucky skiier get eaten in a single gulp, the horrifying creature barely stopping before beginning to chase you again.

It seems you'll have to ski for your life.

4. FOREST BREAKOUT

Alright, you're done with Skiing and this weird-ass Resort. It's time to brave the wilderness and get the hell out of this place. As you go into the forest, for a while, it's just you and the snow... But then it gets darker. And darker. And there's no end to the forest itself...

You hear whispers. Wolves growl and snarl in your ears, the trees - are they moving? Has a dense fog settled in, making it hard to tell where you're going? Why...why is there another set of footprints in the snow next to you? Your ears are ringing, your head hurts, y̝ơ͍̻̲̥̟u'̰͈̯̞̖̪͜v͙͚̙̘̲̝̖͢e̖̲̟̟̮̯ ̖̙͟m̗͙͍̙͢a̷̬̹̠̬d̡̼͙̳̭ͅe͏̱ ̖͔̠̭̺̬͝ͅá̯̪ ̹̻̠͖m̥̜̫̤̯i̘̲͈̼̮s̼̙͔͎̠̦̘t̪͠á͇̣̫͎̜̻k̫͎̠̫̦̻é̯-͓͍͘

And then you wake up on one of the hotel couches in the lobby, with a Staff Member smiling indulgently over you with a cup of hot cocoa in their hands, going on about how you just came right in and took a nap.

Hm.

5. RESORT MURDER

Somehow, you knew it was going to get worse. And when one of your fellow Guests end up dead, that just cemented it for you. Someone has been killed - in a horrible way - and now you have to suspect each other. Will you check out the body? Mourn for the dead? Or lay a critical eye on your fellow Guests, watching each of them carefully for any sign of Otherness? That person in the corner of the room - did their neck just bulge unnaturally a little? Are those fangs shining in that person's mouth? What about the people in the rooms next to yours? Don't you think they talk a little weirdly, move just a little unnaturally?

Will you do something about it, before they get you?

blutsauger: (Though these deeds)

my computer restarted in the middle of me typing a reply to this earlier. fucking rip

[personal profile] blutsauger 2018-11-11 06:20 am (UTC)(link)
[At this point, Medic is assuming this is a different species of yeti, or perhaps something closer to a Sasquatch? Either way, it's probably heavily endangered and rare, so once they're done killing it he's saving as many blood, organ, and tissues samples as he can carry.

You know, if they actually manage to kill it.

Medic meets Engie's eyes- or at least he assumes he does, always hard to tell with the goggles- for a moment, nodding his thanks when Engie starts distracting the creature. Now he just has to get a little closer...

Meanwhile the yeti, or whatever the hell it is, is snarling and baring its teeth, stepping closer and closer to the Engineer. Medic really doesn't want to know what it'll do if it reaches him.

Gott im Himmel, how does Spy deal with the pressure of having to always kill the enemy in one stab? Medic tightens his grip on the knife's hilt. He only has one shot at this-

Alright, stop overthinking it, just-

Medic rushes forward and plunges the knife into the creature's back.]
spah: (just so's i'll understand)

kill your computer

[personal profile] spah 2018-11-12 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
[The way it got closer, Engie was about ready to bust out the Gunslinger and Grapple Some Damn Yetis. Not that he's Saxton Hale-levels capable of it, but you know. He'd try.

The plan works, though, and the knife hits the right spot - and unfortunately doesn't do much. The big beast roars in fury and immediately spins around to face Medic.]

Aw, hell--

[Engineer wastes no time. He charges forward and jumps up - right onto it's back. He peeks up over the yeti's shoulder.]

How's it goin', doc?

[casual convo in the middle of this yeti fight why not]
blutsauger: (While you struggle)

[personal profile] blutsauger 2018-11-12 04:20 am (UTC)(link)
[Well. Alright, to be fair, Medic wasn't really expecting it to be that easy, but still, this day just went from bad to worse.

Medic manages to yank the blade out of the creature's back just before it swivels around to grab at him. He dodges its first swing and takes a step back. At the second swing, Medic lashes out, stabbing its hand- paw? forefoot? whatever.

The yeti snarls and retracts its hand, giving Medic enough time to take a few steps back- and for Engie, of course, to start riding the damned thing like a rodeo bull.]

I'm quite alright, if it weren't for this thing- and the probably-kidnapping or memory loss, since I don't know why I would have checked in to this resort otherwise.

[Medic darts toward the creature every few seconds to stab at it- the longer he can keep it distracted, the better chance they have of Engie not getting cannibalized.]

Ah, I hope you have a plan, by the way- I didn't really think this through past the first stab.
spah: (with a five piece band)

[personal profile] spah 2018-11-12 05:19 pm (UTC)(link)
[Don't worry, doc. He's got your back.

Engie winks (not that you can tell through those goggles) and climbs up onto the yeti's back, managing to situate his legs on its shoulders. Somehow.]

You and me - both.

[Disclaimer: Climbing a thrashing monster is still not an easy feat. The mercenary grins anyway.]

I'll be honest - doc - this thing kinda surprised me. I'm still workin' out - what to do. Woo!

[Okay, it's pissed. It's thrashing a lot, doing its best to get Engineer off him. This Texan didn't ride rodeo bulls back home for nothing, though. He woops one more time.]

So far - plan is keep shootin' at it!
blutsauger: (Even if things seem a bit perverse)

[personal profile] blutsauger 2018-11-12 10:58 pm (UTC)(link)
[Just hope you know that all i can do is picture this video with engineer rn

They may be in serious danger, but that's never stopped Medic from cackling on a battlefield before. The sight of Engie straddling a snarling yeti's shoulders, on top of the relief at finally finding someone he recognizes in this place- it's overwhelming.

Of course, he's still stabbing at the monster while laughing, the creature's blood flecking his face, which makes the sight a little disturbing. When the laughing subsides to giggles, he speaks again, punctuating his sentences by dodging the yeti's blows.]

Hah- Gott, it is good to see you again, my friend! Just- try not to get your legs torn off. All the- ach- supplies I've found here are some band-aids I stole, and trust me, it is very hard to- to reattach limbs properly with them. For one, you need- just- so many band-aids-

[Finally, Medic stumbles, giving the yeti just enough time to finally land a hit on him, right in the gut. The blow feels like getting sucker punched with spiked brass knuckles, and he doubles over, wheezing for a moment. The claw marks aren't bad, but things may get worse if Medic doesn't move out of the way.]
spah: (ten years down the round)

I can just BS that he got it in the eye or smth so this doesn't end too abruptly

[personal profile] spah 2018-11-13 07:25 pm (UTC)(link)
[correct

Again: this isn't the weirdest thing they've done. Engineer hollers and, with some effort, whips his pistol out again so he can get this thing in the damn skull.

Unfortunately, that's about the time the yeti sucker punches Medic. Engineer curses. The monster roars and bucks again, this time threatening to send the Texan flying. He manages to stay on, though, presses the trigger against his head and -

Bam.

Engie's not sure if he got a clean shot. He might not have even killed it, but he must have done SOMETHING right, because it's toppling down faceforward, him along with it, right into the snow.]
blutsauger: (I’m not afraid to get my hands dirty)

i dont mind either way tbh u can go for a Surprise! Its Alive twist if u want

[personal profile] blutsauger 2018-11-14 07:32 am (UTC)(link)
[Medic recovers himself just in time to hear the gunshot, and he stumbles back as the creature collapses in front of him.]

Engie! Are you alright?

[That fall probably didn't feel great. Even though the yeti luckily didn't land on its back and onto Engineer, Medic's already considering all the possible ways Engie might've gotten injured in the last five seconds. His own wound hurts like hell, but he's got a high enough pain tolerance to ignore it for the time being.

The yeti doesn't appear to be moving, and the snow around its head is slowly beginning to steam from the pooling blood. Still, Medic is cautious in his approach. He'll offer Engineer a hand to help him stand, if needed.

Medic lightly kicks the creature's head, trying to get a better look at its face. One eye is obliterated from Engie's shot, but the other is closed. The creature doesn't respond to the touch.]

Nice shot, Kamerad.

... Soooo. Do you think we can both carry the carcass all the way back to the resort, or will we need to make multiple trips?

[Priorities.]
spah: (singing my songs)

OK COOL I just didn't want to be like "nope problem solved now bc I said so" if you weren't down

[personal profile] spah 2018-11-14 06:14 pm (UTC)(link)
[Nope. That fall definitely wasn't great - but it wasn't terrible either. They both land in snow, and it's enough to keep Engie from breaking bones as he tumbles forward from the yeti's head.

He groans and rolls on his back. It doesn't take long to recover, though, because a moment later he's laughing breathlessly.]

Hoo.

[Thanks for the assist, doc. He catches Medic out of the corner of his eye. He then nods and takes his hand to pull himself up.]

Thanks. [He says with a grunt as he straightens up. He then looks at the yeti's direction. At the sight of a bullet in its eye, he gives a low whistle.]

Wasn't sure if I got it for a second. Damn.

[Also: now it's Engineer's turn to stare at Medic. He blinks in the doctor's direction. Priorities indeed. Honestly, he doesn't even need to ask WHY Medic wants to take it.]

Don't you wanna figure out what the hell's goin' on first? Dunno if you noticed, but this ain't Teufort.

[Says a man who went sledding for the hell of it.]
blutsauger: (From the recent deceased)

[personal profile] blutsauger 2018-11-14 07:04 pm (UTC)(link)
[It doesn't take long for Medic to start laughing again, too, once he's sure Engie isn't dead or irreversibly broken.]

I knew you would- we wouldn't be mercenaries if we had poor aim at point-blank range, ja? [He hums thoughtfully.] Except Sniper, perhaps.

[Medic huffs, putting his hands on his hips- smearing blood on the white fabric of his coat as he does so.]

I've spent a week trying to figure out what's going on here. This- this is the closest thing to a lead I've seen yet! Come on- we wake up im an unknown location, no memory of how we got here, and there's a... whatever this is? Which is probably incredibly endangered and rare to encounter in the wild?

[Medic starts rambling, growing more and more excited as he paces around the steaming corpse. He still hasn't properly looked at his own wounds, by the by.]

Even if its not related- I am not passing up fresh specimens from something so rare! I could do so much with just the brain of this thing- you know, whatever's left of it now that you've put a bullet through it. I don't have the proper materials for dissection, but I'll make do with whatever I can find for now. I'll also need to figure out how to preserve it...

[Medic pauses. He turns to Engie again, frowning.]

...Have you seen the rest of our team anywhere?
spah: (from tearing me a structurally)

[personal profile] spah 2018-11-15 05:46 pm (UTC)(link)
[Don't worry, he's a far cry from being gibbed to pieces.

Engineer pockets his pistol for now and sets his hand on his hips. He glances between the corpse and Medic's own wounds. Welp.

He holds a hand up as quickly as they went to his hips, about to say something along the lines of "alright I get it" - until Medic mentions the rest of the team. Engie goes quiet for a minute. He glances down the rest of the slope, toward the Resort. Thinking.]

Nope. You're the first familiar face I've seen, doc.
blutsauger: (Theres a grave robber at large)

[personal profile] blutsauger 2018-11-16 06:34 am (UTC)(link)
[Medic taps his chin with one bloodied finger, thinking.]

I suppose it's possible they're somewhere around here- after all, we didn't find each other until now.

[He looks troubled, though. Sure, maybe Sniper or Spy could avoid being noticed for a week or so, but most of their teammates aren't particularly subtle. Soldier and Demo both would've blown half the resort to pieces by now, Scout would've hit on every breathing soul in a 5 mile radius, Heavy never reacted well to feeling trapped or contained, and Pyro... Well, Pyro is Pyro.]

We could try causing some sort of disturbance, maybe- something that would draw their attention if they are here, somewhere.

... But let that wait until after I drag this thing back to my quarters.
spah: (somebody told me)

[personal profile] spah 2018-11-16 06:07 pm (UTC)(link)
[The same troubled look briefly flashes across Engineer's expression. They're thinking the same thing. If the others were around, they would have made themselves known by now.

That or they were somewhere else. Engineer sighs.]

Disturbance ain't a bad idea. Where's Miss Pauling when you need her, huh?

[... Which brings to mind that they haven't found her either. Welp.]

First off - [He points to Medic's wounds.] How 'bout those?
blutsauger: (Desecrate those who rest in peace)

[personal profile] blutsauger 2018-11-17 09:08 am (UTC)(link)
Hopefully, with the rest of our team...

[Medic blinks, tilting his head curiously. He looks down and seems surprised to see that, yes, he is still bleeding all over his torn shirt. Only then does he actually register that, yes, he's in a lot of pain, and he grimaces.

The wound looks a bit worse than it actually is, but that's not saying too much. Medic got lucky and avoided a disemboweling- instead, he has several large gashes across his abdomen from the creature's claws, cutting into the muscle layers.]

Ehhhhh. I'll bandage it up when we get back, ja?

[No comment on the fact that hauling a yeti will probably cause him to bleed more from the exertion.]
spah: (somebody told me)

[personal profile] spah 2018-11-17 03:58 pm (UTC)(link)
[Engie gets a closer look.

Oh, yeah. That's - pretty bad.]

How 'bout we at least get a start on it?

[Look this might be a world where nine tough-as-shit idiots take bullets daily (and Scout somehow survives a huge gash in his side), but they could probably at least... cover it up. Somehow.]
Edited 2018-11-17 15:59 (UTC)
blutsauger: (Weigh heavy on my soul)

[personal profile] blutsauger 2018-11-18 06:12 am (UTC)(link)
I've handled worse before, mein Freund.

[Though usually his regeneration would've kicked in, by now. Years of self-experimentation had done a lot of bad and a lot of good, but his body automatically repairing itself whenever he was non-mortally wounded was firmly in the "good" column. Honestly, the fact that it hasn't started to close up is starting to concern him, but he's putting that aside in the ever-growing list of "shit he'll worry about later".]

But if you insist... [He rolls his eyes good-naturedly.] If you have any fabric that's easy to tear into a makeshift bandage, I can stanch the bleeding with that. I'll have to save actual treatment for when we get back to the resort, though I don't have much there in the way of supplies, either.
spah: (from tearing me a structurally)

[personal profile] spah 2018-11-19 06:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I know y'have, hoss, but we're in new territory now.

[Meaning: no medi-gun, and no real supplies... you know, Band-Aids. Engineer thinks for a moment, then takes off his jacket and tears off a sleeve.

Sorry, Medic. He knows you're jacked, but this is what we got.]

Here. Ain't my shirt anyway.
blutsauger: (A garden of riches rots in the ground)

[personal profile] blutsauger 2018-11-20 11:23 am (UTC)(link)
Wouldn't be the first time, ja? [Thank you for acknowledging the fact that medic is fucking shredded

Medic takes the sleeve gratefully, and begins the somewhat awkward process of trying to tie it around his waist as a makeshift tourniquet, rambling as he does so.]

I suppose I could try cleaning the wound first with melted snow, but I have no idea how clean this snow might be. And cold isn't best for bleeding wounds.

[The sleeve is a tight squeeze around the waist, and blood is already starting to soak through, but it works! For now.]

Ok! Now can we drag the corpse up the hill? Or do you have more self care requests?
spah: (from tearing me a structurally)

WEIRD, I didn't get a notif for this

[personal profile] spah 2018-11-22 02:33 am (UTC)(link)
Fair 'nough.

[yeah honestly he's kind of a mix of jealous, impressed, and intimidated

Engineer shrugs his jacket back on and lets Medic work. He'd help, but he knows Medic doesn't need it.]

Now that you ain't gonna bleed to death on the way down, sure. I ain't Heavy, though, just so you know.

[bitch you carry like 2000000 pound foldable sentries on a daily basis]
blutsauger: (Even if things seem a bit perverse)

RIP...

[personal profile] blutsauger 2018-11-22 04:58 am (UTC)(link)
[its a side effect of carrying the whole god damn team every day for years. And, more seriously, the not-insignificant weight of the Medi-gun and its attachments.]

Alright! [Medic claps his hands together, grinning.] I'm not sure if we can carry the full weight of the body in one go, so I can start cutting it into pieces with this butcher knife!

[He's way too excited about that.]
spah: (not problems like what is beauty)

[personal profile] spah 2018-11-22 11:09 pm (UTC)(link)
[Engie knows your pain, man. Well, not nearly on Medic's level, but. Engineer's a defense class that supports about as much as he defends.

Anyway. Engie quirks an eyebrow.]

A saw'd be more fittin', but I reckon we'll take what we can get.

[This isn't the first body they've collectively disposed of.]
blutsauger: (There's profit to be made)

[personal profile] blutsauger 2018-11-23 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
[Medic gets it- those thousands of teleports and and dispenser heals didn't come from nowhere, and he appreciates it.]

Oh, believe me, I know. What I would give for my bonesaws right about now...

[They've desposed of plenty of human bodies throughout the years, but criminally few yetis. Time to make a change.]

The parts I need the most are the head and torso- I'll start removing limbs, and then I'll see if we can handle the new weight? Sound good?

[He's already cutting away at the left shoulder. It's incredibly slow going, and kind of grotesque to watch.]
spah: (son you finally got it made)

[personal profile] spah 2018-11-23 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
[noBODY HELPS HIM GUARD THE SENTRY LUDWIG

Engineer makes something of a face as he watches Medic carve up the shoulder. He's used to blood and guts, naturally, and it's not like he isn't used to Medic's "brand" of doing it either, just -

Miss Pauling's brand of corpse disposal is a little more tolerable, you know?

Whatever. Whatever!! He can be a gentleman and help a lady file fingerprints off corpses just fine, but that's neither here or now. He shakes his head and kneels next to Medic.]

You're gonna have to do the cuttin' for me, all I got's a gun.

[Meanwhile, there's been more than one vacationer skiing by and seeing this. It's fine, though.]
blutsauger: (From the recent deceased)

fairly graphic gore text towards the end

[personal profile] blutsauger 2018-11-23 05:49 am (UTC)(link)
[Medic, of course, is too busy gleefully shredding the tendons of the dead yeti to notice Engie's discomfort.

Unfortunately, he's not so distracted that he doesn't notice one of the skiers. He waves as they pass, holding the now-amputated arm of the yeti as he does so. The passerby may or may not crash into a nearby tree afterwards. It's fine.]

The muscle is quite tough- if you were to try to cook it, I doubt it'd taste good without quite a lot of seasoning, but that's only if we were desperate. The resort appears fairly stocked at the moment. The bones are thick, as well- hard to break and impossible to cut-

[With that, he twists the right arm of the yeti, pulling with all his strength, and with a horrible popping noise the remaining sinews of the arm give way. Medic grins, wiping the sweat off his brow- staining his hair with the yeti's blood in the process.]

There we are! Two arms down, two legs to go!
spah: (speedin my young life away)

[personal profile] spah 2018-11-23 07:19 pm (UTC)(link)
[tHIS IS FINE.

What's actually fine, though, is hearing people screaming as they whiz by (damn the doppler effect is wild) as Medic fully dismembers the yeti. I mean, Engineer notices it, sure, but he also doesn't react much.]

What, you wanna cook this thing?

[Oh wait. Oh no. This is happened too. Engie might be looking a little green himself.]

Hgh.
blutsauger: (There's profit to be made)

[personal profile] blutsauger 2018-11-23 07:55 pm (UTC)(link)
No, no, I'm saying that if we had to, we could cook them. I don't expect us to need to. But the option is there.

[And there goes a leg! With another absolutely horrible noise. It's only then that Medic looks up and catches a glimpse at Engie's face.]

What's wrong?
