ROUND 3 TDM
The ceiling above you is an unfamiliar one - one that looks -

You can't....seem to tell exactly how fancy things are around you.
The shapes and everything exist, but...like a certain cat in a box, they seem to be in a constant state of flux, even if you place your hands on them. 🗈

Such a thing...should be impossible, shouldn't it? And yet, it existed. Like some kind of strange, uncomfortable haze...everything around you exists in a hazy form, like how it is when you attempt to remember the background in a dream.
That hazy, half remembered feeling...instinctively knowing the form and function of things, but unable to make out details.
Thankfully, you're not alone - as you step out of your room to find yourself in a large mansion, stepping out of an unmarked door. The other people around you are just as confused, perhaps even more...then again, some of them look around with sharp eyes, either used to strange events happening around them, or perhaps struggling to make sense of a place that seems familiar, and yet...
Going outside is still as hazy - no, it's even worse. There is a garden in front, but the flowers constantly shift and change, unable to settle on a single form. Even the layout of the area stretches and changes without thought, though thankfully the rooms in the mansion seem solid in comparison.
The effect...is a lot like if you were somehow able to be inside a story while an author furiously wrote and erased what they had down, as if they were rushing against a deadline...or perhaps displeased with their work.
Regardless....it seems you will stay here for a time. Thus, you'll have to find things to do -
On this strange, shifting island.
1. Meet and greet
Shortly after leaving your rooms, the....workstaff? here comes to usher you all into the ballroom. They're large goatmen, though they seem blessedly solid - and as you head into the large room, the tables and food set up buffet-style are also solid, the feast a mixture of japanese and western cooking.
Though there are no signs of who brought you here, a picture frame continually flickers in and out of existence at the very back wall of the ballroom...
2. Letter / Island exploration
As the meeting winds down, a mysterious envelope suddenly appears on one of the tables. The writing inside is unfamiliar to everyone, but the contents cannot be ignored.
'Greetings.
Forgive me for summoning you here while my territory is in this state, but I ask you entertain both yourselves and me for a time as I continue preparing for my first game.
Make no mistake - I am not here to pamper you as my guests. Quite the opposite, in fact.
Over this short period I have you, most of you will die, at the hands of your fellow guests. When it's over, you won't remember a single moment of this. Of course, I will also revive the dead and return you back to your rest.
I need to simply check some things that I can do, and all of you were the most convenient, you see...? I would also like to observe your movements during this, in order to make better moves during my own game.
Therefore, I ask you entertain me. However you move around doesn't matter, only that you show me the purest emotions you can muster.
...I look forward to seeing your faces twisted in fear, hatred, and grief. Please, cry well for me...

Despite if you believe the letter or not, there is exploring to be done - and the island is just that - an island at sea, complete with the cries of seagulls heavy in the air. There is a forest, but to go into it is foolish - it constantly shifts and shimmers, trapping anyone inside...
....Well, unless they yell loud enough that a Goat Butler overhears and grumpily takes them back to the mansion, seemingly admonishing them for doing something so foolish.
The cliffs and grassy areas around are also treacherous - they shift too, and if one was unlucky enough, they might just crash off the cliff into the jagged rocks below...
....There's no mansion on the other side of the island. There is a chapel, but the words above the door shift and change constantly, so it would be foolish to try and do anything with them. In the foyer of the Mansion you all woke up in, there's a stone slab...that has letters constantly sliding across it, unable to settle in place, and if you put your finger on it, you could feel the marble words form and vanish under your touch.
How mysterious.
3. Beach party
Days and nights pass - though it's hard to tell just how many have gone by, despite you trying to watch the time.
How many times have you slept in the bed in your room? How many meals have you had in the dining hall? It should be easy to come up with, yet much like everything else, it's hazy and indistinct....
Either way, the Goats usher you down to the beach on a sunny, hot day, where there's snacks and all sorts of party food, and you're all...suddenly in swimsuits? When did this become the beach episode?
Ah well. May as well enjoy it, right? Even if there's a lurking feeling of something worse about to happen...
4a. A murder most foul
But finally....it happens. One of your number lies dead - in the library? In their own room? Perhaps in the dining hall, or the ballroom?
No matter where it happens - you realize with a start that what the letter had said was true, and...that the insides of the mansion had changed. Where the body lies....is distinct. Clear enough to make out details and clues about the crime, and perhaps about the killer....
But do you really care about something like that?
4b. Endless Repeat
And then....the murders continue. Regardless of day or night, they continue - each body bringing stability to the area around it.
Do you investigate, to try and find each and every killer? Do you run and hide from all of this, trying to turn your eyes from reality? Or do you just decide that enough is enough, and decide to dole out your own justice in a flurry of violence? After all, the new area that just solidified had some weapons in it that you could use, in order to protect yourself from the mad killers around...?
Arguments and yelling will certainly happen, in a situation like this. As the bodies fall and your numbers get fewer and fewer...

....In the end, the island is solidly defined....as a deep silence reins, vivid red and other liquids bringing life to the surroundings.
In order to give life to something, one must take something in return. To bring her world to bloom, it had to be watered with blood.
The brightly flowering Kalmia flowers in the garden in the front of the mansion seemed to embody that, as they waved gently in the breeze, as if thanking those guests with all they had.
The guests...could not see their beauty, or appreciate their quiet thanks.
after all... None were left alive.
And the only sound left, was that of the Witch's delighted laughter...
((This TDM is less about giving you all a taste of what the game will be like - see our recent mock round if you're interested in that - and more about being free to play around in the setting! Feel free to come up with stuff as well!
All characters still have their powers as of this TDM, though still from canon instead of an AU. All characters from Umineko are free to play, though they'll find they can't easily escape from this place, and that it seems a lot like Rokkenjima, but at the end, it's not anywhere near the same.

Sherlock Holmes (Ruler) | Fate/Grand Order
[Well... this proving to be a rather unusual way to wake up, he is no stranger to coming to after suddenly blacking out, but there's a weird, almost dream-like quality to their surroundings. The shifting flowers outside would prove worthy of investigation, but Holmes felt the interior should be the first point of his investigation. He gently patted one of the goat men... no mask, a beast it seems like?
But now, he ignores the buffet completely, fingers on his chin as he examines the portrait before attempting to touch it - seeing it vanish right before his gloved fingertips would brush against it. The man barks out in laughter]
Well then! That is certainly one way to prevent a philistine from smearing a work of art!
3. Beach party
What the devil...?
[He pulls down the panama hat, being pale enough to burn quite easily. Surprisingly, his swim attire was more modern - black triathlon shorts and a white short-sleeve shirt that's unbuttoned]
This seems a little... too pleasant for this place.
[But it seems they have to 'party', no going back, but rather than going swimming, he actually starts digging in the sand, humming as he digs up seashells, brushing them off before holding them to the light - planning to cross-reference them later to see if he could discern where this place is... or based off of]
4b Murder, again?
[The man paces restlessly, like a hound knowing he's suppose to be out hunting but his human is late to get the gun and the horn. His expression is tight, ashen-faced with his lips thinned out as much as possible, and despite being a heroic spirit, it almost look like there's dark circles under his eyes]
So it seems we cannot prevent the murders. Whatever we do, someone will die.
[He lights a cigarette, exhaling as he straightens up]
The Witch will make sure of that, the best you can do is to make yourself an undesirable victim - too much trouble to kill. This does not mean we should leave things as is - there is a reason why this is happening. Even sadism would not explain it.
[And he hates it, there is much he can deduce, and have gone over in his mind - but there is much they still do not know]

[ Rika responds to his words with a rather airy and childlike tone in spite of the fact that she's anything but; not that anyone necessarily needs to know that, or that most can even tell.
Nevertheless, she beams brightly, seemingly unbothered by the prospect of murder. ]
But I'm not going to let myself get caught by the evil kitty that wants to take out their sharp claws.

Takumi Aiba | Digimon Story
[Compared to some of the other guests, the young red-head seems to be handling the fluid nature of the mansion pretty well. He moves around the building like he's used to this kind of flux- and the strange goat-men.
He's not so foolish to jump right into eating, no matter HOW good it looks. Instead, he gives the strange painting a long look, head tilted in curiosity. He closes one eye, then the other... is it a Magic Eye?
Eventually, he does eat- and anyone that might try to start a conversation might be concerned to find out not only are they ignored but Takumi is... mumbling? To himself? Odd...]
2 - Exploration
[Everyone will die? He doesn't buy that. Surely if this Witch person needs to see their pure emotions, something more pleasant should work too! So while exploring your character might just see... something strange?
If they happen to find anything electric that isn't currently in flux, it might just start doing something silly. A blender might dance around, a radio might start playing- really, anything. Is it a ghost??]
4b - Endless repeat
[Things... went so very wrong, so fast. Takumi could have fled into a digital space but- well, when the blood started flowing he froze. It was too much like That Time. All he could think of was being somewhere else that didn't feel real. Seeing someone else being killed. And while he was trapped in a memory he was caught.
He's not dead yet, but one might find the detective laying against a wall, bleeding heavily and surrounded by a blue static. Are you here to finish the job? Or just say goodbye before the end?]

[Okay. The last thing Wheatley remembers was drifting along through the vast nothingness of space. Now he's waking up and everything around him is blurry.]
Urrrgh- Wha? Oh, bloody hell, is my battery finally going out? Am I gonna die?! Oh, god! I don't wanna die now! I- I still haven't apologized to- [At this point he notices something fully solid moving in front of him.] Hang on. Hang on, what is that? [He squints at the thing. He wants it to move closer, and it does. There are two things, actually. They look like arms.
They are arms.]
Wha... Oh my god. [HE HAS ARMS. And legs, now that he's gotten a good look... He now realizes his core is connected to something, and that something is a robotic...]
A body! I can't believe it, I have an actual body! Brilliant! Absolutely brilliant, wow... Hey, there's also gravity? Right? I am laying here and not floating about? Maybe I can get up and walk over...
[He manages the getting out of bed part, but instead of standing up and walking out of his room he tumbles off and lands face first on the floor.]
Ow. [... He tries to use those new limbs of his to get up, with mixed results, but it seems he can't get the hang of walking without falling over and hurting himself.] Urgh... Where's the bloody manual for this thing?
[Thankfully, for him, the doors unlocked. Anyone who can hear the constant banging and groaning is welcome to come inside and see him struggling. Help him?]

[Either the goat butlers begrudgingly helped, or someone finally found him, but he eventually manages to get out of his room and figures out how to properly maneuver himself around the.... Mansion? Everything is still hazy, and after seeing others here he's sure it isn't him.
At least someone left a note. A rather ugly note.]
Oooookay, really? What's the purpose of this?
[He waves the open letter around.] I mean, I get it if they're needing to test things, but why did they have to explicitly tell everyone they want them to die? It's just gonna make them wanna live more, ya know? And it's just death. Plain old death. No new technology, no obstacle courses with giant pits or turrets or anything. Just death. It's pointless! Mad!
[He turns to the person closest to him.] You get what I'm saying?

[Eventually, death just happens.
And the bodies pile up, which is horrifying. So Wheatley is desperate to escape the crazy murderers running about.
You might find him near the beach, trying desperately to figure out if he can make a boat or something, but he keeps getting himself lost in the haze and he doesn't have supplies or knowledge about making boats or rafts. He'll be easy to catch off gaurd, and if you whack his "head" off that crane of a neck it's mounted to, that part of him will still move while the body stops responding...
Perhaps you'll come across him later, in a more distinct area of the island. There's machinery scattered everywhere...
The core itself is damaged beyond repair.]

[Most of Watanuki's life has been filled with supernatural occurrences, so he's no stranger to spirits and demons and such. Likewise, he's also no stranger to the fact that most people aren't able to see said spirits and demons, and that if he were to talk to one it would make people question his sanity.
Which is why he's going to just pretend the goat-butlers don't even exist, despite the fact that he can see them as clear as day. Because he thinks they're spirits and not 'there' to most people and he's trying to blend in and act normal. Nothing to see here, moving along.
Except, since everyone can see the goats, it makes it look like he's the only one who can't see them. Whoops.
Will you call him out? Ask him about it? Or something else maybe? Because he's definitely avoiding a butler's kind gesture of holding out a glass for him to get his own off the table.]

[One look at that letter is all it takes for Watanuki to know just how boned they all are.
He's no expert by any means- he still is just picking up stuff here and there from his time working for Yuuko- but he knows enough to know that this is Bad. With a capital B. Because the words on that letter are concerning, to say the least.

[A murder has happened, as it has happened before. Honestly, after discovering that first body in the first week, Watanuki isn't too keen on finding anymore. So while others investigate the bloody murder room, Watanuki is instead wandering the halls. He seems to be looking for something. Or, rather, someone.
Will he find the soul of the recently-deceased? Or will he find one of the living members of the group, out following after him? Who knows! But he's still looking. He has to try and help the dead in any way he can, and if translating messages across the gap of life to death is how he can help then so be it.]

Okay, suddenly swimsuit is fine, too, he guesses. He's frowning down at it for a moment, but it's only a moment. In the next, he's walking over and quietly studying the food. He hasn't had much of an appetite since he arrived — however long ago that was. ]

[ It's muttered in a deadpan tone, more to himself than anyone else, but that's not to say there isn't someone there to be victim to it. If someone's there, he'll glance over and at least pretend he knew they were there this whole time. ]
A forced beach party, of all things, while we're waiting for someone to die... [ staring down at the food, again ] This feels wrong.
[ Eventually, he's heading over to sit down on the beach and stare at the ever-changing oceanic scenery. ]

Shadow the Hedgehog | Sonic Games / IDW Comics
[Oh he absolutely hates this. The shifting of reality, the haziness of memory, the complete inability to focus on something and capture certainty… it reminded him of the power of the Phantom Ruby, wielded by the weak jackal. Or, perhaps, simply using Infinite as a puppet, a means to an end.
And them, some large goats, clearer than the rest of the world, usher them into a room with food of all sorts. The chair seems to change height to accommodate his size.
He sniffs at the food and sneers]
I wouldn’t eat this if I were you.
2. A Letter
[Shadow is getting up to leave when a letter appears. He snatches it up and reads it, his face becoming more and more grim as he does so.
Then, he holds the letter in one hand, and surrounds it in flame-like green energy. The letter atomizes.]
I’m not here to play games, nor am I here to provide entertainment to some unknown sadist. I’m leaving.
[and then getting hopelessly lost in the woods. With a roar of frustration, he forms a green energy lance in one hand and slashes through one of the illusory trees. It falls and doesn’t fall.] THIS IS BULLSHIT.

[And again, she was stuffed into her school swimsuit, which at least had her name confirming her as "Furudo (古戸)". She made no attempt to 'have fun' however, and it'd be easy to catch her just staring from person to person.]

[FUCK YES she cares about a murder! This is what Furudo Erika lives for! On discovering the scene, she lets loose a verifiable cackle, before moving to stake her claim on the crime scene.]

[...Did she have the "detective authority", which meant she was given fair chance to examine all the evidence, and question all of suspects? Maybe, maybe not, but she was going to try.]

[At this point, either Erika had found a few killers, was piecing together evidence to do so, or was rolling on the floor crying about the 'game' being 'unfair' because she couldn't.
She didn't give up, though. And each murder brought a new bout of excitement, like mania, for her to dive in and investigate... unless someone physically held her back or locked her in a room.]

His own turbulent emotions hidden well at the idea of the threat behind these words. If someone gets close or is nearby, he'll look in their direction. ]

He's not really intent on making idle conversation with him starting it off first, but he won't really object to it if someone makes it first. ]

The worst part is that Riku is probably the first one here, so whoever is walking in might see the other rising to stand to full height before being allowed a view of the dead person. ]

[ After exiting the room he was staying in and discussing the letter that was written by the self proclaimed witch, there's only one thing to do, really, and that's to explore the mansion.
Those with magic sensing abilities might notice that his magic is of the moon and sun, and that there is a sword inside his body.

Nevertheless, he can be found in the library, looking up some books to see if he can potentially learn about this world. But after that, he can also be found reading some murder mystery novels. He's going to be here for a while.
Although if one doesn't catch him in the act of reading like a nerd, he can be found in front of the rather ominous chapel. He's kind of curious what's in here, actually. If he spits someone in the vicinity, he'll even raise his hand politely and call out to them. ]

[... but this letter implies that Dlanor herself is a piece this time, and that's very irregular. How should she act in such a situation? What should she tell people about herself? Can she even still execute witches? Lady Erika would probably be able to advise her, but Lady Erika isn't here at the moment.
There are, however, a number of people in the vicinity who might have overheard her initial comment and might do something like ask "but what?", so Dlanor thinks she ought to finish the sentence in (she hopes) as unobjectionable a manner as she can.]
... Of course that's not POSSIBLE. Witches don't EXIST.
